I tore up my bicep last Saturday and needed surgery on Wednesday, so I have been doped up and pretty worthless lately. Out of sheer boredom, I head to the casino for some 6/12 action. I am stuck over $200 early on some bad beats, then things turn around. In a half hour (one dealer), I probably took done over 15 pots and ran up almost $1k, all BIG pots.
I sucked out a big gutshot vs AA J10 w/ Q8 suited and a board of J104, I was stuck in the middle of raisers and got in way to deep to fold.
About 1/2 through, the winner and 6th place in the chicks tournament sat down w/ 1k and 4k. One was a dealer and she could see that I was raising every pot preflop and running over the table. She got nailed when my AA was for real and she didnt stop until 11 bets preflop(she is usually solid, by the way, she was drunk too). Flop J high and we go 3 bets more. She was all in on the turn, but didnt show. Nice!
About 4 hours of grinding out a few more small profits this happened: 8 9 clubs and limp. Someone popped and 3 bet and we have a big pot 7 handed. Flop 7 7 6 . The guy on my right bets out, I raise, most call. Turn 5 -best straight, nice! He bets out again, I raise, 2 call, he 3 bets, I call. River Q diamonds, he bets, 2 callers.
Showdown 55, 5s full 7s for him. 10 7 off for other showdown, trip 7s. 9-5 str8 for me. Here is the deal though, w/ my str8 flush draw, I only had clubs for outs. 5 gives one a boat, 10 gives the other a boat. 10 clubs gives me a str8 flush vs a big boat-payday! 5 clubs gives me a str8-flush, 55 quads, and the other guy 7s full 5s w/ 2nd nuts to just 55-so the both REALLY pay me off AND we hit the jackpot.
So as was typical for the night, the $300+ 6/12 pot goes to the one outer.
This is why many either love or hate limit poker, in NL, I make a huge raise with that draw and lose the 55 and get the weak trips to fold or race for stacks.

dave you play at the Canterbury right? I want to make a trip up there to play. Got family that live in Rochester and wanna play some higher limit cause around here we got 6/12 once a week and its omaha not holdem. 20/40 once a month and its dealer choice. is there a HOSE game or HORSE up there?

There is only limit holdem 24/7/365. There is almost always 15/30 and every evening has 30/60. Lower limit has multiple tables going all hours.
They do get omaha going and sometimes stud, but I dont think it is higher that 4/8OHL and 2/4 stud. One day a week they get a higher omaha game.
