Nlhe 6 handed , 1st hour . $70 buy in.
I get dealt A A . Blinds are $25/$50. I have $2,600 Villain has me covered.
Villain (lag) brings it in for $150 utg, I am in the co and make it $400 total He calls.
Flop 2 2 6 . He checks, I check.
Turn 10 . He checks , I lead for $300, he calls.
River 2 . He checks, I lead for $750. He calls.
I think I played this hand okay , but think maybe I am betting too small ,and losing out on making more chips. What you think?

Why check the flop?

If he has any pocket pair, he might continue on flop ....but hes even more likely to if I check behind imo. If I lead he might fold pps up to 7-7, and if he has KQ,KJ,A10,QJ anything like that he'll surely pass.
I want him to either hit a pair on the turn or think his pocket pair (if he has it) is good. I wont check everytime but when its 2-2-6 , no straights to worry over, not like he can make two pair and beat me.
Deception is the reason I guess? I don't want him thinking I have A-A.

this is a good spot so pull this kind of play... although the pot is big enough that I wouldn't mind taking it down right here...

You might be able to bet a little more on the river. He called on the turn, and the third deuce certainly wouldn't scare him, so he's happy with his hand. The only way he'd fold is if he has a busted flush draw, but he'd fold any amount with that.
Other than that, he's not playing back at you, so there's not a whole lot more you could do. I like the check on the flop to try to induce a bet.

Its a good spot to check aces.

Bet that flop - 1/2 pot bet looks like you missed, and you might get him to raise you. Then you can call/raise and try to win a big pot.

With Aces, we aren't really worried about the 2's, nobody's gonna raise and call a reraise with pocket 2's, or any hand with a 2 in it. He also doesn't have a single 6 in his hand, like A6 or something, because nobody don't raise-call with that. With this flop you are only worried about pocket 6's, and him hitting a full boat on the flop. I personally wouldn't raise-call preflop with 66 but maybe somebody would. The check means that either he totally missed (with a good Ace maybe) or that he hit a full boat with 66's. Would he really check with an overpair, or even 55? Probably not so a check means he missed or hit a fullboat. That means that a check from us is perfect. We want him to catch up if he has a big ace, and if he has us beat, we can always find out on the turn. Would he check a fullboat twice? Maybe, but it only takes us one bet to find out.
P.S There are 2 hearts. If he has a suited hand, like AKs (raise-call hand for sure), he has about 10% to hit 4 cards to flush on the flop. That means that we are 90% he does not have 4 cards to a flush. If there was more than 2 players, or if your opponent limped, than you defend against the flush for sure.

He invested about half his stack in the hand. And yeah you're probably right about the cash game thing. In cash games you can buy in again, in tournaments, you have to keep your stack in mind and not get too carried away. He had a really good hand here, and tho the bets look a little small, he still invested half his stack, which is fine if you know you're ahead like you almost always do here. So yeah, in tournaments the bets were fine. Maybe not on a cash table.
