Ok... I saw two guys kinda in a debate or discussion about outs on Partypoker.
Flop is 7 9 J
Player holds A T
Turn is Q.
How many outs does this player have?
And can you explain it please. I thought originally he had 4 outs (KKKK) to make his straight... then realize he has another 4 outs (8888).... but he said he had more???? am I missing something
Any exercises that can be done to improve in counting outs alot quicker?

Assuming no flush possibilities-he could also count 3 Aces since they are an overcard to the board.

ok.. thats where I was a little confused. You still count the aces even though theres a possibility that the ace on the river would not make it the winning hand? For instance in this case his opponent has a pair of Jacks for trip jacks.

Unless he had a reason to put someone on JJ, sure he would count the A. But I still wouldnt go crazy hitting a top pair on the river w/ a str8 on the table.

he has about, assuming that top pair will be good, 11 outs. 3 for A, 4 for the K for a a nut straight, and 4 for 8 with a straight. but yea i wouldn't really count the A.

Ok thats what the debate was about.
In fact he ended up with his nut straight. And the other guy (the loser) could not believe that he stayed in on the raises to catch the river card - King.
Now I guess it depends on pot odds here in this situation on whether or not you guys would call to see the river???
