Ever seen the worst beat ever in poker?

Posted Mon Jul 14, 2003 7:52 pm GMT by Poker_Vendetta
Anyone ever gotten beat by a 72o holding AA? Anyone? How big of a favorite would the AA be? Atleast 90% favorite right. I mean I know that a KK is an 82% underdog to an AA preflop.

7 2 off is only 8-1 against
try QQ v Q2
now thats a real dog

AA has 88% of wining against 72o 12%. That is not so bad for 72 so it happends quite a lot if he/she stays in.

QQ vs. Q2 is 94% against 6%. That is bad.

I lost KK to 37off in Ultimatebet 7 on the flop and the turn. Bam 86% to 14% according to cardplayer's odd calcualtor pre-flop

I know a little more about poker now so I do realize that something like KK vs. K2 is a much more one sided battle. If the K2 misses the flop they are drawing dead, and have to get two runners--2 2, I believe it really is a 99.9% chance the KK will hold up in that spot.

Well on the topic of 27off vs AA, I played some $2/4 today at the Indian casino and was down quite a bit when I get dealt in 27off in the big blind. I'm just ecstatic (sarcasm) but when the flop comes 2-7-3 rainbow I bet out, get raised and then re-raised, think there was 4 people including me by the turn. Again I bet (a nothing card) and one folds, the rest call, river brings a 2 (or a 7, can't remember I was playing 4 hrs straight or more, but I know it brought me the boat). I bet, got raised, re-raised and dragged a nice pot with my boat. *THE VERY NEXT HAND* I get pocket A's (first time in a live game in like weeks). I raise preflop, and with 3 clubs on the flop 5-6-9 or something similar, I gladly bet out and re-raise with my nut flush draw. Turn brings an 8 (non club) for a straight possibility, I bet, call the raise. River again brings no help (no club, no ace). I check and call and *3* other people made straights with 1 nut straight. Simply outrageous.

I couldn't even make A10off beat wired 5's with a flop of AA2 !! Wound up plowing thru 2 stacks of chips on that. (Bet the flop, got called, bet the seemingly harmless 5 and capped it with the 5's). Of course, no help on the river and the re-raiser with the boat called my bet even with the boat (guess my cap scared him). Shrug, pretty whack.

What was *REALLY* whack was the fact that I got dealt something like 8 pocket pairs (9's three times, 10's twice, A's once, Q's once and some middle pair) and not only did I NOT flop a set once, but I never made a set with the entire BOARD. What the hell are the odds of that?? (I of course dumped em by the flop unless they were overcards)

BTW; I came up with about >91% odds for trip aces on the flop against pocket 5's on cardplayer's hand analyzer. Of course I had to get smoked on that hand. wtf.

I seem to be getting all the bad beats lately. Tonight I got dealt pocket Kings in the big blind and capped it pre-flop ($3/6) board came down 4-4-2 and I again capped it on the flop (at this point I think there were 2 people left). Turn brings an Ace, I bet out, get raised, other guy folds and then I call. Next card is nothing. He beats me with A9 off !!! WTF!! I gotta start playing NL or something, I don't see how people call with these trash hands and then make em big. This is how it always happens, I play tight all night, get a decent hand, have the odds way in my favor and then get outdrawn and proceed to lose like 1/2 my chips in a hand I should have won. And I don't lose them by betting poorly either (I don't slow play trips or a good drawing hand or 2 pair).

His odds were something like 14% to my 86% on the flop. Just wonderful. Also I noticed that the deck they were playing with (this was at a cardhouse) that nearly *ALL* the Jacks and Queens were bent and did not sit flush. Easily noticeable when the hole cards were dealt, people folded or when their cards did not have chips on top. Pretty whack. I think I need a break from this holdem. I'm getting so sick of playing tight all night just to get called by people with almost NO outs and getting outdrawn. Also, this was the third night in a row where *NONE* of my pocket pairs hit a set on the entire board, I think I'm now 0/18 !!! Ridiculous considering the odds of hitting trips on the flop are 11% (1/9) and like what 15-17% on the board?? I of course didn't hold on to em after the flop, and was both glad and angered when none of them hit. (Glad I folded, but upset that my statistically impossible streak is still going strong).

flop: Kd 4d rag

I move all in he calls......Feeling good.....

turn: 8d

River 9d

uh this idiot called with a 2 kicker and beat me with his four card flush holding the 2 of diamonds......."Thats poker" I also just had 2 pair and the guy caught for cards to his stright..... Very Mad

It's not the worst, odds wise, but it's the worst I ever had, 2 weeks ago, home game NL, I'm in the BB, # 2 stack, got pocket rockets, everybody folds except SB, #1 stack, who raises, I re-raise, he caps. Flop is A,2,2. He bets, I go all in, he calls, got quad 2's, WTF!!! What's he doing re-raising pre-flop with pocket 2's?? Beating my ass that's what, I guess. Junk on turn and river and I'm going home. Sad, but live to fight another day I guess. Still smarting over that one though Sad Sad

I will often raise w/ small pocket pairs if I think that it will get me heads up. Most of the time your opponent will have AK AQ or the like and you have a lead. A reraise and you need to watch for a pocket pair, a bad flop and you are likely the winner.

I lost with pocket rockets to 3/5 offsuit. He caught the straight on the river. This was my fun experience with playing no foldem holdem in the casino. Not a good first hand to have and lose. Can you say "tilt"?Very Mad

I figured that he had a pocket pair, but having rockets, I had him beat and once the flop came, "knew" I was a lock....NOT!!! :x I could taste his stack, got greedy, oh well, live and learn.

This just happened to me. I made the mistake of slow playing rockets before the flop (check) and after the flop (check) a second two comes out on the turn, one guy bets two, i raise him two dollars, third guy calls, first guy folds. river comes out, seven, i raise, guy puts me all in, i call, boat.

Terribly played on my part. I was down a lot, but the main thing was I had just seen Rounders and wanted to pull a hollywood moment where the guy thinks hes won and i show him aces and take the pot. That played in my head, and also the last hand where Damon keeps checking and KGB eventually puts him all in was running through my head. I forgot that Aces and twos isn't a very strong hand. STUPID STUPID STUPID. It was the end of the night. I was tired. I wasn't thinking clearly.

Was this in a SNG on partypoker?

Posted Thu Apr 08, 2004 4:33 pm GMT by charlidontsurff
No it was a live cash-in game.

Posted Fri Apr 09, 2004 7:39 am GMT by BeerWench13
Okay. I was just curious because I saw the exact thing go down in a SNG I was playing on PP. I was wondering if that was you who took that bad beat. I guess not. Hopefully it will make you feel a bit better to know that there's someone out there who suffered the same.

You know, the worst beat in poker would probably be this one...or one very similar to it.

You: AA
Them: 45s

AA6s (He would need two perfect cards to win)
8s (Only one card in the deck will win it for him!)
7s Definitely 99 to 1 odds.

I saw the equivalent to that a few weeks ago. A3clubs vs J5clubs with a flop of like 6-7-10 clubs. 99.8% odds for the nutflush vs .2% to the Jack high flush. Same odds as for the runner runner straight flush, but it's more crushing I guess to have quads beat than a nut flush.
