i'm the small blind w/ AJo. five people see the flop, which is KQT rainbow. there's about $2.50 in the pot, and i've been playing tight, so i feel like if i bet, it'll scare people away, so i check. everyone else checks to the button, who raises $4. without thinking, i reraise it to $8, and everyone folds, including the button. So all I made was $6.50 off my nut straight.
What I think I should've done was call the $4, and then maybe some others would have stayed in, and if not, at least I could have got something from the button on the turn and the river. Did I screw up?

i think you already know the answer and the reason.
of course button may have been stealing or on a draw and you may have ended up getting no more from him or splitting the pot, but i believe flat calling with the made nut would have been the smarter play.

i agree the check raise screamed trap.. and thats exactly what it was.. like you said the flop was rainbow so there was no was somone would suck out a flush on the next card.. so flat calling would be the best bet.. although if you would've let this guy draw to the same straight as you you'd get even less from that pot.. but i'd like to said i'd call in that situation..
