This is a fun one.

I was playing 10 buck buy in, .25/.50 no limit with some friends.

I had busted out early after a slow run of cards, rebought 5 more, and had grinded my way back to about 25 in front of me.

I get A2, it's down to 3 people. Three way pot, no raises preflop, i'm first to act.

10d 2d 2h flop.

I quickly check, knowing the person next to act likes to think he can read me, and is very aggressive, and will bet almost any flop that is checked to him. Sure enough, $1. Next to act calls, he's a loose, random player. I just call.

something like Jh comes up next.

Again, quick check, another $1 bet, another call, and I call.

8h comes up. Check, bet, last to act raises all-in.

He likes to trick people. I can tell by his bet he's strong, but I have the kicker, and I dunno, I just KNOW he doesn't have a house.

I call, initial raiser folds, guy flips over..

Kh 9h.

Yes yes, pot was $1.50, he called $1, on a three flush, with one overcard.

So in hindsight, maybe I should've played my hand quicker, but I had looked at this as a money making opportunity, knowing I could milk a couple bucks out of the big aggressive monster, and I ended up busting out because of it.

When it was heads up though, mister runner-runner bet all-in to the other guy who had a nut straight, and runner-runner boy had a medium two pair. Retribution, sorta, because this other guy is the only other player that I really have much respect for out of this crew of people.

Not the worst beat of my life, but one of the more frustrating, because it's due only to idiotic chasing of draws.

I think you are right in saying that you should've played it quicker. I think it was OK to flat call the rainbow flop with trips + top kicker but when the second suited card came off I think a large check raise might have been the best play.

Although you rightly point out that his call on the flop was optimistic, you could easily have been up against KTh, QTh or JTh in which case the call would have been justified. OK, that isn't what he had but I think as soon as there was danger of someone drawing out on you you should have made them pay for the draw.
