I get dealt poket kings in the big blind. Im playing 5/10 limit. The table is pretty loose. I raise preflop. All but one person calls. Flop comes 4c,As,9s. I check. It checks all the way around. 6c on the turn. I check again. Here is where i figure i should have bet but it may have already been to late. It checks around. River 5h. I bet finally figuring there is no ace out there. everyone folds except small blind who has an 8,7for the straight.
I was too afraid that with 8 other people calling a preflop raise that one of them had an ace so i didnt raise. I guess i should have raised right away after the flop for information. If anyone called or re-raised then get worried.
A better hand i played was 7,2 off. im on the button with a few limpers. I raise. flop comes nothing special. I raise, two callers. turn nothing special. I raise. both fold. I flip it over to piss everyone off. Guy says to me" you have been playing tight all night! I folded 2 pair!!! I thought you had trips."

Since you're the BB, I don't blame you for checking the flop with that A. But that 6 on the turn gave the guy an open-ended straight so even if you bet he/she probably would have called. Even so, I think the correct move would have been to bet just to prevent giving the free card. Gutsy play with the 72o though. Who says you can't bluff in low limit!

I disagree. Post-flop, it checked all the way around. The worst that can happen if BB raises is a re-raise, which tells him someone represents an Ace, and he folds.
Throw a bet out there after the flop, either diminish the field or see that someone comes over the top.
Sometimes we spend too much effort and energy trying to build pots rather than taking what's there and being satisfied.

I agree. I think that was my mistake. Especially since it would have only cost me 5 bucks and I would have found out no one had an ace. But with 8 other people in I was sure someone had an ace.
