Supa/Sent/Helmuth, heads up

The talk about the online pro challenging Phil H to play for $100k heads up got me thinking......why do people (typically online) who think they are better than you challenge you to play heads up?

Does that really determine who is a better overall player?

I find this especially amusing when you are already playing 5-6 handed. Since we are clashing already every other hand, what the hell difference does it make if we play heads up or not? Here is my money, I am not leaving, come get it.

hu only determines who is better hu player providing that its played long enough

most of the super high stakes players that try to challenge people to hu couldn't get the person to sit at their 6 max table either.

You don't see someone like hellmuth grinding 20k hands at 200/400 across 6 tables. the wait list gets huge.

I even saw some kid call this old man a donk and challenge him to play heads up for $2k at the casino on Saturday. He busted the kid out of a $300NL tournament.

I chuckled inside because the old "donk" has played 30/60 there forever and does quite well.

I doubt that kid would last 2 hours in that game.

I also see it a lot in SNGs. Someone bust out of a $20-30 SNG and challenges someone to play heads up for some obscene amount (relative to the SNG stake) heads up. I find it both curious and amusing.

when it works the payoff is pretty huge, sometimes.
