Anything I could have done differently to not lose $2400?

2/5NL, $1000 cap at the Venetian.
Hero ~$1250, has table covered.

Hero in BB with pocket Kings.
A few limpers, and MP (~$1200) makes it $40 to go.
I reraise and make it $110.
Folded around to villian who makes $400.
I push like an idiot.
Villian calls.
Villain has pocket Aces, like no shit.

Aces hold up.

FWIW, board came 4 5 6 rainbow.
Turn was a 7
River bricked out.

Ouch, reality hurts.

Was my PF reraise and push OOP really that bad?

Other notes maybe worth or not worth mentioning. I was sitting at the table for about 2 orbits and the table was fairly soft with me making about $200 bluffing and semibluffing the first orbit. And $40 was an abnormally high opening raise considering the game. My thinking was $40 represented either QQ, JJ, or AK, mayyyyyyybe AQ suited. But after my initial raise and his massive reraise, I knew deep trouble was definitely possible, yet was it possible to lay down pocket Kings this deep?

Honest opinions and criticism more than welcome.
