Played 3/6 last night at our local cardroom...
My first WEEKEND NIGHT playing session...normally I get to play the weekday morning sessions...
OMG what a sight....6 way preflop CAPPED betting...huge pots...bad beats you name it...
while I was on the wait list I was watching the games and I was getting scared... players flat calling a capped preflop bet in late position with K5o
and calling another $12 when the flop comes AQ7
I was planning on buying one rack of whites for 100 bucks....and seriously thought that might not be enough...
Needless to say for the first hour and a half I saw two flops....AA and AK and didnt get any action other than the 4 or 5 callers to my Preflop raise...
Once my tight ass "image" was established I opened up my playing requirements quite a bit...
My hand of the night 89suited on the button UTG raises to 6 and EVERYONE in front of me CALLED I call... SB and BB call...
9 way action $54 in the pot...
FLOP comes 898 on the button...SB BB check UTG bets...next two fold next raises... then FOLD FOLD I raise SB BB fold...UTG caps...call call call
$90 in the pot... I figured that one of them has an 8 the other has a 9?
rag on the turn... UTG bets...call I raise again... reraise cap.. call call
$162 in the pot ( less the rake)
rag on the river...same as before...UTG bets call raise raise capped
$234 in pot...
showdown...
UTG 8889A trips
middle postion 8899J two pair
me 88899 the boat...and I took it down...
Played from 930pm till 4am and left up $425
I honestly didn't wan to leave...
NIC---if you read this---this is absolutely a place that you might want to go for a evening...having watched you play at UB and reading your hand histories you would probably have a great time here...
This place is in La Center, WA about 20 minutes north of Portland.

That sounds like my low limit casino experience too.
Of course, the wild swings can go against you, just like they can go for you, too.
A hundred bucks, like you started with, is next to nothing for these games. On some tables like these, almost every starting hand is capped before the flop. That's 12 bucks a hand pre-flop at 3/6. Add in the sky high rake for this limit, and you wind up paying a ton of money out really fast before you've even seen a flop.
For the crazy variance I see in casinos, even the 300 big bets recommended by some people for bankrolls is far too small.
I think that kind of throws people who have only played online, sometimes. Online can be nuts, but rarely does it get as nutty as live. Because live, you're in a social situation, where people raise to brag, to impress their girlfriends, because they always drink when they play and drinking makes them nuts, to punish someone who just beat them on the last hand and wears a kind of hat they really really hate, because they're racists and they don't like what color or ethnicity you are, because they're old and they don't like young people, because they're celebrating something or trying to forget something....online games are much more quiet and to the point.
Casino playing is much more fun, but the swings per table can be unbelievable. Takes more confidence and self-control to prosper there, I think.

I play in LaCenter 3 times a week. Weekend nights can be just like you say. It's not so fun when you get your trip aces are snapped off when a jackass hits runner runner to make a flush. I have a great kill pot story from there a couple of weeks ago.
I had been playing about six hours when the "night shift" showed up with fresh chips. One guy sat down and played the first ten hands he was dealt. He raised before every flop and called everything down to the river. I was on the button in a kill pot which made it a 6/12 game. I get AA. There are two raises in front of me so I cap it at $24. There are five callers behind me! The flop was 5c, 8d, 2s. The BB bets out, 1st posistion raises, the raiser raises and I cap it. The turn is 9h. When it came three bets to me on the turn I capped it again. Now it's down to three players including the guy that played and raised everyhand before this. when the river came 10s I figured MAYBE JQ was in play, either that or someone had a set because the BB bet and the raiser raised. I just called the $24.
When I saw ther hands I couldn't believe it. The BB had KK and the guy who was raising had JJ. I slow rolled my Aces mainly because I had to look three times to make sure I was seeing what I was. Anyway, it was an enormous pot for 3/6. I'm not sure any of us had any business calling those large raises with one pair.
If you play weekday mornings/afternoons you will find a much tighter game.

I started out playing 3/6, and after the bad beats and chasing I really started to wonder if I could beat this game consistently. So the last time I sat played in the casino I sat at 3/6 having to rebuy once, and dumping the majority of $200 on AA and KK, that got cracked by 44 and K8 respectively.
So I went the pit boss and got moved a 6/12 table, got to play a little tighter, however the play jumps up a lot at that level. However, I have been extremely profitable at the 6/12 level without the swings of 3/6.
Just my opinion.

I found the same thing. Did mediocre at 2/4 and 3/6, great at 5/10, 10/20, and 15/30.

It's 20 miles north of portland. There's 2 places w/ poker. 3/6 4/8 10/20 and sometimes they get a 6/12 game going.
