Starting out online

I've been playing poker for about two years, maily house games and 1/2 blind casino games. I consider myself a loose/aggressive player. I recently started playing in a free poker league and have learned about varying your play and disguising your hands.

I recently started playing on Pokerstars. I lost my first $25 in less than an hour. Since I had to wait 48 hours to do another e-check, I decided to play some free poker to practice selecting my hands better. The free tables are definitely a joke. Raise any amount and at least 3 people will stay in, and call you down all the way. If I don't raise someone else will. It doesn't make sense for me to fold A-J when people are betting into me, but with 5 people in the hand no matter the chips in the pot it's hard to win. If I wanted I could just play KK or AA and push every time and get called, but that isn't helping me improve.

2nl

Sorry, I don't know what that means. I don't really know all the abbreviations.

2NL means $2 No Limit. That particular writing convention refer to the table by the buy-in stakes. People usually write it because it’s easier then referring to the blinds, which in this case would be 1c – 2c

In short start at micro tables not $20NL. Everyone gets bad beats but players with proper bankroll management don’t go broke and have to reload. If you’re playing $20NL you should really have about $300-$400 in your account.
