Do you prefer win big oncein a while or win small frequently

Posted Fri Jul 17, 2009 5:41 pm GMT by dubfrontsidah
I was wondering what people preferred to do when it came to winning money, big pots occasionally or small pots frequently?

Is it small thinking of me to think that these are the only two options?

My vote goes to bad at poker.

Winning big pots infrequently is more profitable. Attempting to win a lot of small pots puts you in marginal situations where you may over-invest yourself and end up contributing to someone ELSES one big pot they have been waiting for.

If you're a really good lag player, it's possible to beat win both ways. But, I too am a bad player and my opinion doesn't matter.

Your next poll can be...

Do you prefer losing a lot of small pots or some big pots occasionally.

And for "c" option you can write... " I lose in any case so it doesn't matter"!

Laughing

I find it depends on the table.

I personally prefer playing tight against player who over rate hands, so I pick up occasional large pots from them.

Although I have found myself on tables where the poor loose players have left and I’m against tight passive players, in that situation I loosen up and pick up a few small pots pre-flop and on the flop with aggressive betting, but I leave when people catch on and start to adjust.

The biggest factor is the rake. If it's even slightly significant, you want fewer pots that are bigger on average, no contest.
