I'm having a bit of trouble with Absolute Poker... nothing major... they just ticked me off with one of their misleading policies and so I'd like to contact someone about this since they're giving me the run around.
Anyway... I've traced the domain name back to an Absolute Entertainment S.A. based out of San Jose Costa Rica.
Do these online poker sites have to obtain any sort of license (gaming, business, etc.) in order to conduct business in the United States (e.g. allowing US citizens to play on their software)?
If anyone can fill me in, I'd much appreciate it!
Thanks!
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

Since they are hosted off shore, they wouldn't need any sort of license for US Citizens to play. In fact that is the reason why they are located offshore.
