There may not be anyone on this site that can give me any info, but i was wondering if there are any casinos that hold holdem games near South Carolina? I saw that few people on this site live in or near SC so noone may be able to help me. This will be my first time to a real poker room and was just wondering if there are any near SC. Ive looked over and found some Indian Reservations in North Carolina but I dont know if they host HoldEm. Any help would be appreciated.

None that I'm aware of. I live in Atlanta, GA and there is just about nothing here. There is a gambling boat that leaves from Savannah, GA but I think that's the only action in the whole state. The closest poker rooms I know of are in Biloxi, MS (about a 6 hour drive from here). I don't know about any gambling at all in SC and the reservation that you're referring to in NC is probably Harrah's Cherokee Casino. I've never been there but it's only slots and video blackjack (<-- lame!).

So I think you might be out of luck. I'd be really curious to know if you find one or if anyone else knows of one.

Nope, I'm here in Atlanta too Scott and getting to a casino is a bit of a drive. There's the boat in Savannah, which you mentioned, and nothing else besides MS for any action outside of a home game that's not video bullshit.

I'm stuck in the same boat. I'm in Greenville and there's just nothing real around here. Luckily I travel some for work and I've been able to get to a few real casinos. I've been trying to find people interested in playing in some home tournys but I havn't been able to find anyone outside of the neighborhood. We only have about four people right now but it's still fun. No real money in it but we each put $5.00-$10.00 and we get to play for a good while.

I think the Beerwench is from North Carolina. You could look her up (joined 19jan04) and ask her where she plays. She mentioned once that she drove up to Atlantic City.

Kind of sucks to be 6 to 8 hours from a casino, but I play against guys who all the time who drive that long and come in for the weekend.

On the upside, you live in a state with the prettiest poker player East of the Mississippi (seen the pictures, this is no kidding). Sort of evens things out. (On the downside, it might not be worth all the money you'd lose looking at her to invite her to your game.)

(Then again, it might.)

What pics are you talking about? Now you've peeked my interest.

oh, well just ask her and she'll send you a picture. The one I got was taken at Christmas with her two sisters in which she said "I got the brains, they got the looks." She was completely out in left field in that assessment, I mean she's a stone knockout.

Married though. She also sent a picture from her honeymoon, but my computer couldn't open it. (Just a subtle hint, no doubt.)
