I just can't understand people who bitch about a check raise, it's part of the game and it's tough if they don't have a hand good enuff! Unless it's in the casino rules, which I highly doubt, tell him to swivel and take his money I say 8)

It sounds to me like he was just thrown off by your check-raise. There's definitely nothing wrong or amateur about it. He probably had a pretty good hand but realized when you check-raised him that he was beat and it pissed him off. Next time someone does something like that just smile at them and say thank-you.

If the guy was playing $2/$4 and complaining about your play, I'd just laugh at him.

You out played him. Feel good about that.

personally its only made me upset if someone checks, a guy bets, I call but wasnt sure if I should, then the checker raises. Then I know I just threw away my bet. Never upset at the raiser though. Sounds like a good play to me. Hell I'd check raise him again just to piss him off..

that pretty much says it all. i love to check raise, especially against really wild, agressive maniacs. :D

Timely check-raises, slowplays, and lay downs are the ways good players make the majority of their money. A blind cockerspaniel with three legs can drag itself to a poker table and get aces and win a pot...it takes a little more skill to make people pay you for the win.

I have a favorite little quote from Ken Warren's book about objections to check-raising. He says to tell them:
"How is it that I'm smart enough to know that you'll bet if I check, but you're not smart enough to figure out that I'm going to raise when you bet?"
Anyone that thinks check-raising is something done by amateurs is an idiot. Don't let that one get to ya. That guy is a tool.

I have known people to do this, But isn't it the best when your holding the nuts and people do this to you. I just get a warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

I was playing $4/8 at a casino yesterday. Sititing BB. Nobody raises so I can check my 92os.

flop comest 999. small blind checks. I check figuring if I bet everyone folds. Next guy bets, 2 players fold. A guy calls. Small blind raises. I'm stunned and call. Originally better calls.

Turn comes 6. Small blind checks, I check. Next guy bets, 3rd guy raises, small blind reraises. I am just completely amazed. I call. original better calls, 3rd guy calls,.

River K - small blind bets, I raise, next guy reraises, 3rd guy caps, all call. turns out small blind had an 88, 76s to my left, and 3rd guy in has K6s. All them about died when I show the 4th 9 and take home a monster pot.

I wouldnt worry about the guy complaining about your checkraising, you obviously just caught him off guard.. Check raising is a great way to get a bit more $$ in the pot in limit. If im sure someone will bet, i check raise pretty often with a strong hand.
