What does BB refer to?

Posted Tue Jun 01, 2004 9:56 am GMT by lilbart
I have been lurking on this forum for a while and I keep on seeing people refer to big bet and bank roll. I am going to put a deposit in on Ultimate Bet and Poker Stars. My plan is 100 dollars each. I thinking of playing at the .25/.5 and .5/1 tables. I have two questions:

1) What is the proper table for a 100 bankroll

2) What does BB or Big Bet refer to.

Thanks in advance

playing the .25/.50 tables on pokerstars the maximum buy in is $50 this is the maximum amount you can take to the table for .50/1 it's $100 i believe.

I would thuroughly recommend tho, that you stay away from these tables, i do not feel that you get "proper" poker played at this level, i feel that you get far to many people limping all the way to river and catching a lucky/miracle card to take away far too much of your cash.
I believe a much better level of poker is played at the sit&go tables, basically a mini 1 table tournament, where you buy in for $5 or $10 or $20 or w/e and play with tourney chips (TC) so even if you bust out the most you can lose is your original stake, rather than your whole roll, as can happen at the ring game tables. and payouts are usually to top 3 finishers from 9 starters.

to sum up..... i feel ring game tables you can swing violently up or down, and sit & go tourneys are steadier.

BB is used to refer to the Big Blind, SB is used to refer to the Small Blind...... these are the forced bets that the 1st and 2nd player after the dealer are required to make before cards are dealt and action starts. for example........ at a .25/.50 game the SB is .25 and the BB is .50
(Dealer is also referred to as "the button")
