Hahaha, I was thinkin the same thing. Also, how would a $100 Tourny ruin their crappy friendships?

I think I would rather watch a home game with mini cams for everyone and one main came, and just hit record :D

on a lighter note.........SHADE is in stores now, pretty good gambling movie I think. Takes a second to ROUNDERS to due the fact that theres less action "playing"

Bummer?! No one remembers the first time they played for $100 after playing for quarters for 3 years? Didn't it seem like a big deal then?

Fundamentally, Freeze Out is about 1 person who knows how to play, trying to beat 7 players who don't really know how to play. And hey it's an indy film shot on DVCam., I don't have the money to make "Rounders."

I've been playing for seriously for 5 years and I play no-limit ring games and tournaments here in LA and Vegas. But John, the main character, has delusions of grandeur and thinks he's a great player (when he really isn't). It's about someone to who $100 is a big deal. It's not about people who play seriously like us.

Anyway, it's too bad you guys think it looks crappy because I'm really trying to make the poker action as authentic as possible.

I hope you'll reconsider and check it out...

I'll check out any movie that's got poker in it. When's the release date? What's the plan for distribution? Is it going to be released in theaters or is it a straight to video type of deal? Hell , maybe I can be in part two where one of them brings their friend who procedes to whipe up the floor with their asses. Razz Just kidding, I'm not too far past the days of low limit buy-ins. Oh yeah, I'm still there. Shocked Not quarters but I know what you mean nonetheless.

Yeah, I'm interested in it, but one thing confuses me, and comes off a little strange

Would his friends really pull a gun and shoot someone over $100? I know its a lot for them to gamble, but still, that's 3 hours of work at a well-paying job, and 8 hours at twice the minimum wage...

True... then again how likely is it that someone would explode in a fireball at a poker game? I don't want to give too much away about the shooting scene... but take a careful look at the those frames and you might notice something unusual about the gun...

I'm editing the film right now and am planning to submit it to festivals in the fall. If (and that's always a mighty big IF for a little indy film) people like it, hopefully a distributor will pick it up and put it on the big screen.

If not, I'm hoping to produce a DVD version of it (hopefully including a commentary track from a noted poker columnist criticizing all the poker scenes).

Thanks for the interest!

If I can get my hands on it I will watch it. You should send a few of us on the board a copy and we can be your screening test.

WOW...that looks even worse then Shade, I didnt think you could get any worse but it appears I was wrong...

Wow, cut the guy some slack. It's not easy making a movie, especially with a low/tight budget. I'll check it out when it's ready. It's got potential to be interesting. Oh, and as far as the shooting his friends is concerced, there is no gun, he shoots them with his finger. Probably a dream sequence, either that or he's related to Mork from Ork. Anyway, keep us posted on release dates etc

Still, you could make it more interesting by not making the guy a pansy, or upping the stakes to something more interesting. Like at least 1,000 which happens to be his rent and food money for the month cause he just lost his job.
