Well...If it's a tough laydown (folding good cards because you think the other guy just picked up something better for HIS hand), you should probably "muck" it (fold it face down). Actually you should probably just fold all of your hands face down, unless you have 72o (worst starting hand in poker) and there is no suspense of psychological affect in showing it face up. Now, if you WIN a pot, you can show your cards face up, so if you made a great bluff, this could startle your opponents slighty. That would be the only real time other than a regular show down that you would want to show your cards face up. That is basically my best advice, and this is all from online poker and tv poker i've watched.

I dunno if this is frowned upon in casinos but in home games, a good way to unsettle ur opponents can be to fold one card face down and one face up.

For example, let's say the board has K,K,Q,5,7 unsuited for arguments sake and there are only 2 players left.

U hold K,Q and have raised big on the river having slow played the hand. You are thinking that he has a King but u know u have him beat so ur icy exterior is making him sweat even if he does have trip Ks. After thinking long and hard he folds. I would often fold my Q face up and my K face down to make him think I was playing 2 pair and that his throw away was wrong.

Is this unacceptable behaviour in casinos? It's a nice tactic, especially if u don't like the a**hole on the other side of the table Wink
