Vegas Table rate

Posted Thu Aug 07, 2003 10:04 am GMT by jbaker126
Can anyone tell me the table rates at the different Vegas casinos? I'm guessing Bellagio minimum table is 5/10 or even 10/20 and Sam's Club like 1/2 or 2/4. Can someone give me a run down of rates.

Thanks

Just got back from Vegas. I was dissappointed to learn that not every casino has a poker room. In fact most do not. MGM Grand, where I stayed, being one of them. You'd a thunk that the biggest hotel in the world (5000 rooms! and five pools with a river at MGM) would have a measely poker room, right? Well you'd lose that bet. Here's where I played:

Excaliber 2/6 (great room for beginners, good pots, easy limits, jackpots - you spin the cash wheel - for 4 of a kind with pocket pairs and cracked Aces, make this room a bonus!)

Monte Carlo 4/8, 4/8 kill, 8/16 - another good mid limit room with discount room rates for Poker Players, and jackpot hands similar to Excaliber. They pay you for having 4 of a kind with pocket pairs.

Mandalay Bay - 4/8 half kill & up, very nice room, but only played there a few hours.

Flamingo - 2/4, 4/8 - small room with mostly fun tourist games and a few jackpots that I can't remember. Left because I was waiting for two hours to get into the 4/8 game and could not stand playing 2/4 any more.

Bellagio - 4/8, 8/16 & all the way upto $100/200 - NO JACKPOTS, but the biggest and most fashionable card room in Vegas. Played both low limits and did well here. Lots of pro's both here and in Monte Carlo, but more here. Always a list to get a game, but a good aggressive mid level player can do well with a few hundred bucks to gamble with. Saw my first fist fight in a card room here last tuesday night when a guy got up at another table and started swinging at another guy around 1:30 am for "toughing his stack". It was a weird night. They both got tossed. Oh, and NO Cursing, at the Bellagio or you will get tossed. They are uppity here.

Mirage 4/8 & 8/16 & up - waited for an hour but couldn't get a game so i went back to Bellagio.

Thanks Spak, I am suprised there are more 2/6, 3/6. If there was a fist fight how was the mood at your table?

We all stopped playing our hand and stood up to watch. It was not at my table, but in the center of the Card room, so EVERYONE was watching. Since they have only ever had one other fight there (according to the staff), the security took about three minutes to arrive and the manager had to get between these two geezers (mid 50's - way too old for fighting) who were obvioulsy drinking.

The whole night was weird. We had a sloppy drunk at my table blowing a few hundred bucks avery couple of hours - which was nice. We also had lots of players asking for 'rulings' on hands which quickly turned the table hostile. I left at around 3am after my table became too uptight. It was one of those nights. I left up about $80.

Don't forget the downtown hotels!!

Can't leave out Binion's Horseshoe:
The lowest limit I saw was 1-4-8-8
There is also a 5-10, 10-20 from what I remember.
Smokey, gritty poker here. Gotta sit with the boys at Binion's. . . definitely poker in its most raw form (in a casino that is).

I also played at the Plaza:
Was a lot like the Flamingo as far as size and limits.
Had a 1-5 stud table and a 2-4 hold em table.
Some locals some tourists. Don't go there early because there are only a few tables and sometimes only one is running. Poker room closes at 2 am and comps are for the asking after a few hours of play.

I played mostly 2/4 while there and found that I liked the Flamingo the most because it was a "fun" place to play. The room was small but always full.

Check out the internet for daily tourney action. There are always small tourneys going on at differeent rooms. I know that the mirage and excalibur have tourneys.

GOOD LUCK!!

I love getting those sloppy drunks at my table, so long as they are happy drunks.

Those who nitpick rulings piss me off. My wife doesn't let me get out that much (once a month or so), and my last table I played was like that. One guy getting his money taken and questioning ruling on every hand he lost. It killed my night.

I've only played casino poker at the Taj in AC and never saw anyone ask for a ruling. What the hell are they asking for?

However, I did see 2 fights in one night. Something about jumping tables without posting blinds. Very funny seeing a drunk red neck and an asian business man duke it out. The other was just drunk fools.

Almost a third fight with me. A guy was pissed that I refused his offer to take our blinds back because noone called. He offered it to me me once and I had crap, so I accepted. I forget what he called it?

They need to build a wall seperating North and South Jersey to keep the New Yorkers outa AC.

Last weekend I sat down at a table, and the first think I hear is someone asking for a ruling. I thought about it, decided to stay because someone else was bitching about the guy bitching for a ruling. Turned out to be the best group of folks I've ever played with.

The best group of people to play with are the one's who's money you have in your pocket when you get up to leave the table. Wink

But some people do like to ask for rulings more often than not - rather than let the dealer be the enforcer and judge or make the call - and it tends to slow down the game to get the manager over to listen to why one peson has a gripe about another person's play or behavior. It can make for a slightly hostile atmosphere.

Common ruling calls I've heard lately: string bets, showing your hole cards to friends or neighbors, cards fall off the table, talking about a hand as it is in play, blind issues, and accidental mucks (not protecting your hole cards).

Sorry I meant Da Bomb! A few weeks ago I started playing there, and after I signed up at the sign up sheet I sat down to wait. Well, next to me was one guy, who only played seven card stud at house games, so he's not sure about hold 'em. And, the guy next to him asked me if at these games you can go "all in" like they do in the travel channel.

I am very happy to report that this second guy sat at my table.
