Covering the Clock Watching WPT or NE Poker on TV

Posted Fri Jun 11, 2004 6:10 am GMT by Teekan
I like covering my clocks whenever I'm watching WPT or Celebrity Poker or any poker on tv for that matter. It just makes it more exciting when you don't have a clue who's goin to win. Sure if there's only 10 minutes left in the game and it's heads up and one person is a real shortstack and the other is a huge chip leader, your goin to know who wins so I like doin this. anybody else do this?

Prolly just me :D

Ok, so I did it and it worked great! I'm gonna do this every week.

I'm glad someone there's at least one other person I know for a fact that does this. :D

It just makes it more exciting not knowing when it's goin to end. And when commercials come on, you almost instinctly look at the clock on your cable box or whatever.

Glad you like the technique redd38 Wink

Laughing I usually use Post it notes, but now I have to use a little scotch tape too; because the post it notes don't really stick. When I'm watching like a hour and a half in, the post it note falls off and I try so hard not to look! :D

My eyes! I'm blind!

Is there gonna be a shirt and clock cover combo??

I don't cover the clock, but I have the same issue when I use my DVR (like a TIVO) to record the show. As I fast forward through the commercials a little bar comes up showing how far into the show and how much is left. Makes it almost impossible to not know when you are getting to the end.

Does it annoy you guys how little poker they show on these shows now?

I used to love em, now they are just kinda boring. I really enjoy watching the poker.

For what its worth I will say the same thing about American Chopper. Love watching the bikes being build, don't mind a little drama. But not more drama and less building.

Oh well, just my $.02

I don't mind a little break in my poker to see Shana Hiatt Wink

But really, WPT is a 2 hour show so I still get a lot more poker from it than Late Night Poker or the celeb shows. So I guess haven't really noticed a lack of poker.

I'm goin to actually see how much actual time they play poker on late night poker, compared to how many commericals they have in that half hour period. :D

Speaking of knowing what is going to happen by what time it is, I had it happen to me last night but it was opposite of what you had in mind when this thread started. At one point when it was down to two guys they were both all in and the shorter stack had the worse of the two hands but there was a half hour left so I knew he was going to catch his card. Sure enough he caught his card on the river to double up. The whole hand I was thinking about this thread.

I know the exact hand you're thinking about. I didn't cover my clocks last night cause I wasn't really paying much attention to the game, it was just playing in the background. And when they went heads up I really wish I had covered them.

I recommened it to my friends and they all do the cover clock now. :D
