I don't know if they have any poker in canada casinos. I know they don't in Montreal. Post back if you find one please.

Don't worry about ediquette. Those french canadians are the rudest people on earth and they don't like americans, but love our currency and budweiser.

When I was there, they were working on the only stairs and the building is 5 stories high, so everyone was cramming in 2 elevators. I watched a group of rude frogs push past old people and knock down a lady with a walker to get in the elevator. My friends and I helped her up and formed a barrier and only let all the old folks on the next elevator down. Got lots of curses in french.

I took them for 900 canadian in blackjack, so it was fun. Rude people but the city is awesome.

Casino Rama in Ontario has a poker room. Pretty far up there though. Near Orillia. I haven't been there yet but I plan to on my way up to North Bay next summer. www.casinorama.com

ABOUT 700 TO BE MORE SPECIFIC

Brantford Charity Casino has a poker room with 9 tables. The table limits are from $5-10 to $75-150. Brantford is a one hour drive from Toronto

Posted Mon Dec 01, 2003 12:48 pm GMT by GlenTL
What about Casino Rama. What limits? # of tables?

Posted Mon Dec 01, 2003 2:19 pm GMT by TheRightHand
Casino Rama is about 1.5 hours north of Toronto. It is many times bigger than Brantford Charity Casino but the poker room is the same size. Rama has 10 tables. They have similar limits to Brantford but also deal $2-5. The lower limit never caught on in Brantford.

Casino Rama has half a dozen restaurants and always offers Vegas-like big name entertainment. They have a large hotel adjacent to the casino and there are several other hotels and motels in the vacinity.

Orillia is cottage country and is a great vacation destination in the summer. If you go in the winter time, put on your snow tires!

Thanks for the info! It'll be a slight detour for me on the way up off of 11 N. I won't be going till Aug of next year though. I'll probably stop on the way back too. I stayed in your town on my way up last year to break up the drive.

Well, have a good time. Bring lots of money. <g>

First off to help answer the original post, Niagara Falls, Windsor and at least Sarnia have casino's in southern ontario... Basically at each of the bigger border crossings. And there are plenty more in all the medium to large sized cities.

Secondly, this isn't meant to offend anyone in any way. Not even the person with whome i have an issue. So if you are offended easily, don't read the rest of this. I just wanted to respond to a few things i read earlier.

So you're just going to paint all French Canadiens with the same wide brush? BTW do you honestly think Canadiens are envious of Americans for their beer???

This is probably your big story from when you visited Montreal? Right? I've lived in the states now for 5 years. Do you not think i've ever run into a bunch of jackasses? Well I have, they are everywhere in this world. Just don't be so quick to judge 10 million people on the actions of 2. Its very ignorant sounding. Using derogatory terms such as frog is quite ignorant too. If you went to Africa on vacation and two African's were rude to you, would you return home and talk about a couple of niggers you had a run in with? Or return from Italy and speak about Wops. Or maybe you're returning from a trip to asia where you no doubt have a big story about gooks.

Well FYI. Here are a few more for you that you may want to use the next time you visit montreal or Canada for that matter. PS Do me a favor, and tell us these to our faces.

Call them:
Frostbacks
Hoser
f*ck
Newfie
Nigloo
Seal-f*ck
Snowback
Beaver-Beater
Bic-Needer
Fur-Licker

Its up to you. Choose a few. Try them.

Hmmmm...Someone's a bit testy.

Actually most Americans are clueless about Canada and Canadians, so rudeness is frequently what we deserve. I went to school with a bunch of Canadians, both French and English. They were so much fun I hung out with them most of the time...but they do not tolerate much American arrogance (and we are so good at being arrogant we don't even realize how frequently and completely we make asses of ourselves in other countries). The French Canadians were my favorite though--much to the consternation of my other Canadian friends (who have their issues with the Quebecquois no matter what they say). But the FC's are some of the warmest, most gracious people I've ever met. And MAN do they know how to party!

So here's an blanket apology for all the idiotic insensitivity you've suffered at the hands of us South of your border, including my jibe about your money above, which I thought, all in all, you took pretty well.

Posted Fri Jan 09, 2004 7:55 pm GMT by schrek
mindgame,
You couldn't have put it any better. I didn't mean to sound testy, but have to admit that reading such visual trash would get a lot of my American friends angry as well as probably most of my Canadian friends. Its the type of trash that nobody benefits from. He thinks he's a hero because he came online and told us all a big horror story about his meetings with french canadians when all someone asked was if anybody knew where to find a casino in ontario. Not only that, but he was under the impression that there were no such things in canada. For some reason he felt that he was qualified to answer this post (knowing nothing about casinos in canada)

Its the big step backwards that he takes for all of us who are trying to get along.
Mindgame, you're joke... was just a joke. His post was just disgraceful. I'm ashamed to share a continent with him... you on the other hand, if I sit at a table with you, the drinks are on me.

Blanket statements and generalizations steam me too. They do nothing but tarnish humanity as a whole in my opinion.

Canadians (French or otherwise) have in my experience some of the most fun, freindly and polite people I have met. When living in Buffalo I made many a trip into Ontario and further and have nothing but good things to say about our northern neighbors. Whether it be watching the Leafs in Toronto, skiing at Mont Tremblant (N. of Quebec city), sampling some culture at the Shaw Festival (Niagara on the Lake) or visiting the Canadian ballet (A different kind of culture), I can't think of a sigle bad experience.

Looking forward to my next trip perhaps for some poker.

Hey Puck, its great to hear your view on the matter. Your views completely mirror mine. No matter where you go there are always going to be some jerks... Its the ability to have the patience to see through their actions to get the big picture. And that big picture is that our countries share more than any other two countries in the world, least of which is freedom and our amazing ways of life.

Posted Mon Jan 12, 2004 4:24 pm GMT by TheRightHand
Actually, I'd go as far as to say that our two countries are almost the very same culture. Canadians grow up watching American media and the influence is overwhelming.

Some people don't like stereotypes but I think that they can be a way to a quick understanding. If you wanted to come up with a stereotypical Canadian, just start with a stereotypical American and replace the assault rifle with a hockey stick.

This is only a little bit tongue-in-cheek.

Posted Mon Jan 12, 2004 5:38 pm GMT by mindgame
Not a good stereotype. The Canadians I hung out with were a hell of a lot more dangerous with a hockey stick than most of the American idiots who own assault rifles--at least to their intended targets.

"like are budwiser beeer"

ROTFLOL>.....That is the funniest thing I heard, FYI bud is one of teh worst beers in Canada, I am from toronto but live in FL for univ now and let me tell you beer is the last things Canada wants from the US...The top brands in canada are labatt's, coors, molson, is what I find is mostly bought.....I have a lil joke for you americans/canadians who have had beer from both sides of the border....

What does american beer and fisherman have in common?

A: f**king close to water.....lol..

Posted Tue Feb 10, 2004 5:23 pm GMT by PuckJunkieNY
Hey Sickity,

I like Sleemans' dark and the cream ale too. Yum!

I've also heard the punchline used with another joke. A friend of mine "Luc" from Belgium told it to me. It was:

How is American beer like screwing (aka- "shagging" for our friends in UK) in a canoe?
.
.
.
.
.
It's F*cking pretty close to water.

How old do you have to be play to in Canadian Casinos?

Posted Tue Feb 10, 2004 5:47 pm GMT by TheRightHand
In Ontario, you have to be 19 years of age.

lol I hav'nt read this one til now.

schrek,

wops is'nt Italians, It means any immigrant without
papers. w/o p = wop

I've been to Nelson, BC , nothing but hot chicks and
hacking hippies. I see nothing wrong with that. And the
Canadian beer, Kokanee is way better(stronger) than
most American beers. Plus you can buy codiene o.t.c.
ayee!!! Don't take too many though, or you'll puke.

Wait...I thought you had to be 18 in the U.S., why would you jump the border to play in Canada if you were legally allowed to play in the U.S.? Is 21 the gambling age?

Posted Wed Feb 11, 2004 2:48 am GMT by groton

anyone kno if its NL or table limit if its limit what is the limit?

Posted Sun Mar 21, 2004 2:10 pm GMT by cayouche
There's a casino in Halifax, they also have a poker room. They have both Texas and Omaha tables.

In the Quebec province, you have to be 18 years old to get in. Every other provinces, 19. So in Halifax, 19.

For the rudeness of Canadians and American beer... lol

No comments. :D

Everything I've read says that the Poker Rooms in QC are all underground rooms. But blackjack and roullette are legal. Go figure. Rolling Eyes
