Looks like a student film quality production, but I'd check it out . . . that part in the trailer where the guy is trying to get his aces full cracked on purpose because the bad beat is the best action in the building, that made me laugh.

I'm concerned about any site that spells two major names (Hellmuth and Harman) incorrectly. If you can't get those kind of details right...
It does look like it might be fun. I imagine it will be one that people with some experience will have to sort of ignore some of the playing.
Lettuce know.

I'll probably get it when I have extra money, just on the grounds that if the makers are supported in this, they will probably make a better movie down the road.
These guys did do a lot of research, and it looks they were resourceful when filming. . . and I like that.

yeh, but look at all of the independant films out there. There are alot of independant films that kick arse, compared to most of all the big budget movies out there, that are just all special effect with no story or plot.
If Jennifer and Scotty Co-stars in it, and it's about poker, then It's worth a peep :D
still haven't received it yet. ordered it on Sunday 7am so I should get it this week.

am i the only one who thought this looks absolutely horrible from the trailer?
Posted Fri Jun 18, 2004 3:10 pm GMT by JohnnyCache
I thought it looked like a student film, like I said. It looked B grade at best, but it looks like it's made by real poker players with some potential...if we give them the benefit on this, they may make the next rounders. . .

I agree with you, swiftone. The trailer looks laughable at best. Might be one of those movies that sucks so bad that it's actually funny. Most likely it will be nothing more than a pitiful attempt to capitalize on the poker craze and make a buck or two.

I'm prepared. I'm seen some real shitty student films, and crappy films in general. I hope it's not a drivers education video bad
Naw, I'm sure it isn't, like I said I'll let all of ya know when I get it.

I got it in the mail today, so I'll make it a Tripple P day!
Puff
Popcorn
Poker
I'll tell you all what I think of it. goin to wait until my bro gets outta werk and we'll watch it. I'll get my brothers opinion on it too, so you get 2 comments instead of one. I can say right off the bat that the film quality is alot better when you actually watch it on dvd, than the low quality trailer they put on the web. ( I took a little peek at the the movie, I couldn't resist to wait for my bro :D ) The low quality film on the web makes it look more like a student film.
I hope this will be up there with rounders as all time kick ass poker movies!

Ok it's about 7am in the morning and I'm pretty out of it, but I'll tell you about the movie.
It was pretty good overall actually. They could have gone a little more in depth with the cards on the board ( like close ups on the cards for instance)they were using in a couple of scenes where it was kind inportant. The best character was Scotty Nguyen, (as himself) he was a straight up cool mo fo in the movie, and also rocks the mullet as well.
There was lots of good laughs too, that poker players can relate too, in the experience in the live casino; especially the characters in the movie.
The Cons of the movie was the music. It was pretty much 90% Shlock Rock, and at times the music sounded like a p0rno movie. I was waiting for some naked little people with chips covering there go-nads but lets not go there
Also the boss man wasn't that good of an actor, for being the boss man. But other than that I'd say it's definately worth a watch for any poker fan out there.
But hopefully this movie will tide you off until we can finally see the Highroller: stu movie
I asked my brother at the end of the movie if he liked it, and he said yes, so there ya go.
well add another poker movie to the poker movie list. Keep them coming directors!
Someday there will be a ultimate poker movie
Like Enter the Dragon was to Bruce Lee fans, or Star trek was to Sci Fi fans

music is a bitch in indie production - you can't afford to clear name music, and if you use something famous and the artist or label finds out and freaks, your career is basicly a small, cute kitten beneath their anvil.
If you have a lot of time, you can usually find local or up and coming people that want to be heard, and that's a good way to go, but it's hard - muscians tend to have the organizational skill and follow-through of gnats, and what they do have they need for the band, so you have to leg-work them, and they act like they're doing you a favor, letting you put their sh!tty demo in your movie. . . not that I'm bitter or anything.

Yeh I should give all the indie directors and video game producers my email. I produce mostly drum and bass and hip hop beats and sell them. I DJ as well and have a internet radio show I do every week and playing poker is a full time schedule.
Music I think makes almost half of the movie as in the mood of the whole movie and making climax's when there is a big moment in the movie and etc.

I made the mistake of buying this piece of junk last month. I was excited because it was about poker and had a couple of real pros in it. Boy, was I disappointed when I watched it. First of all, the story was pretty horrible. Several different lame sub-plots going on at the same time that had very weak connections to poker. The acting was bad, the sets were bad. I can best describe the quality of this film as a porno movie without the sex.
Stay away!

No, but I watch Celebrity Poker Showdown so there you go. I'm a sick, sick man.

I saw Jen Harman today at the Bicycle Club and I told her that I had seen this movie and she made a face. She said that she wished that the movie had never been made because it was so horrible.
