So how would you play this one? Single table NL tournament. You have $800 in chips. Big Stack has $3500 and is very aggressive. Five players left. 1st, 2nd and 3rd finishers are in the money. You (finally) catch a hand: queens! Blinds are $15 - 30. You bet $100, two callers, including Big Stack. Flop 9 xx, no straight or flush draw. 1st opponent checks, big stack bets $100. Now, you know Big Stack is probably going to call you down. Do you just call? Raise? Go all in? I opted to go all in, thinking 1) other opponent would fold, which he did, and 2) Big Stack might just fold instead of chase, which he didn't. He called with A9 suited and caught the third 9 on the river. Was there a better way to play it? How about just calling and trying to check it down? Of course, when the scare card hit on the river, Big Stack would have put me all in whether he had a hand or not. That tactic had been working for him all night. Also, other opponent might stay in for just a call, and catch the winning hand. But, I could have "survived" with about half my chips by folding on the river, if I had opted to call moderate bets form big stack on the flop and turn. Then I would have been hanging on, hoping two other players busted out before me so I could finish in the money. I still think going all in was the best move. I had the best of it and stood to more than double up, which would definitely give me a good shot at finishing in the money. As it was, though, I busted out. What do you think?
