Hey guys, I have been hard at work developing software to allow people to play NLH against their friends online or over a network. It would allow for the host of the game to customize certain aspects of the game such as starting chip amount, BB, and SB, etc. I read in an earlier post that you guys would really like something like this, so I decided to make it. Now, as I continue developing the game, I would appreciate if anyone had any suggestions to give. Anything you guys say would help me out, since this software will be marketed to you guys. So you guys know best when it comes to the content of the game. Thanks ahead of time.

Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

The ability to run a sit n go with incrementing blinds
The ability to track debt as if it was a real money game.
Statistical analysis of all players you play against.
Good AI players to fill seats or simply play against.

For the first version there will be no Computer players (No AI), which makes it easier to make the game, thus making release sooner. When it first comes out it will be marketed to people who want to host a home tournament with their friends or just play a game against their friends online. I'll try to get it to be sit n go, and incrementing blinds will be easy. What kind of statistical analysis do you mean? Like % hands played and hands won? Thanks for the suggestions, i'll try to work them in. BTW, im thinking of having the software cost $19.99 when it comes out, what do you guys think of it?

I'll probably just make my own then
Seriously tho, you want to make it cool? Make it webcam/voice chat compatible...

That would be pretty cool, but wouldn't the webcam be slow for Dial-Up users? The Voice compatibility isn't a bad idea. Are you seriously going to make your own? If so what features, and what language? im just curious.

I don't know. . . I could cook something up in visual C++, probably. Or do a quick front end in vb and tighten up the connection engine with c++ (thank you visual.net) . . .
everything is slow for people on dialup. If the user connects to the internet with two soupcans and a ten-foot string, it's not the programmer's problem.

Haha, very true. Im not doing .NET, although im starting to wonder whether it would be smarter to switch over, although I have no experience with .NET, so it would take me sometime to get acquanted with it. Visual C++ is a biotch, I have a book on it (Learn in 21 Days) and I tried to learn it, but even the simple "Hello World" program was hard, so I stuck with VB.
