That is tough man, very very tough.

BTW, not that it will make you feel better but in Doyle's book he talks about a hand where 4 A's got beat by a royal flush. As bad as your beat was, that one would make me want to cry.

stillers, that's rough, but that's poker. you played it correctly in the long run you'll make it back up.

as for doyle's, that's the kind of hand with which i stack the deck to play a joke on my friends. in real life... that'd suck balls.

it is justide tho as the best hand going into the flop won the pot. sucks to flop top boat and lose, but why would you call a 10 preflop raise w/ KJ???

I wrote it wrong. It was 10 including my blind which was 4 dollars.

Don't like to sound like a kiljoy, but I have seen worse than that! I suppose it is hard to take because the top full house is such a strong hand to lose with. The fact is that after the ten came on the turn, he had 5 outs to win on the river (the 9 and ace of spades for a straight flush and the other 3 queens to get a better boat).

I once got knocked out of a tourney when I went all in to a A82 flop with A8. I was called by two people who both turned over A2. The only way I could lose that pot was if the case 2 came off which it duly did. A running pair would have split the pot as well I guess.

Just remember: there are games with 50 dollar buy ins, and games with 50 dollar chips! Just think of any bankroll amount between 0 and infinity as a "routine swing" an you'll do fine.

I can think of 3. One was by bad play, the other 2 were bad luck.

As fo the bad play one:

I get AA in mid-position with a raise in front of me. I re-raise, and a 3rd guy calls both raises cold. Flop comes something like 4,7,9 rainbow. The early guy bets, I raise, 3rd guy calls. a 6 comes on the turn. Same thing with bets. a 3 comes on the river. Early guy bets, I raises, but this time the 3rd guy re-raises. He urns over 5-2 off suit, and wins with a straight.

As for bad luck:

I have an Ax diamonds. 5d,8d,9d are on board, and the board is not paired. This guy goes all in. O.K., buddy, if you're that confident of your king flush, I'll take your money. Wrong! he turns over 6d,7d.

The other one is, I have A3 offsuit, which I normally don't play, but this is at a .10 no limit table with a $10 max buy in, so I'll limp in with just about anything, on the theory I can make a lot more than .10 if I catch the right flop. Flop comes A,Q,A. This other player comes out betting, but weak, and gets a caller. They can't both have an ace. I figure the one who does has me beat, but he didn't raise pre flop, so his A can't be that strong. I call in hopes that another high card hits, so we can split the pot. I get even better than that: 3. I go all in. one calls, the other folds. 4 comes on the river and my Aces full of 3's get busted by Aces full of 4's.
