If someone goes all in and the next player raises and is called by a third creating a side pot, which pot holds the blind money? The main for the all-in portion or the side?

Any bet made BEFORE the all in is part of the main pot. Consider this - the person who's all in PAID the blind, so he should have the opportunity to win the money other players paid for the blind.

The way you said this can be sorta misleading. If someone bets 1000 and the next guy only has 600 and goes all-in, the full 1000 is not in the main pot even though it was BEFORE the all-in.
Just didn't want anyone to get confused

If someone bets 1000 and the next guy goes all-in with 600, you need to take 600 of the 1000 and put in the main pot and the other 400 into a side pot. The rule is you can never win more than you bet. If the all-in guy can cover the blinds, the blinds go in the main pot. But lets say the BB is now 500 and he only has 300, 300 of the blinds go into the main pot and the other 200 goes into the side pot. Simple

its not true that u cant win more then you bet. Ive tripled up and quad(4x) up before in tournys, on hands ive gone all in on. It just depends on how many people call you, say the blinds are 300/600
sb 300
bb 600
fold
call 600
call 600
fold
fold
raise all in 1500(me)
fold
call 1500
sb calls 1200 to make 1500
bb all in over the top of the 1500 to 13,500TC
all fold cept the sb which calls the 12,000 chip raise
now 12,000 from the SB, and 12,000 from the BB go to the side pot and the main pot which i can win is 7200, 1500(me) 1500 (SB) 1500 (BB)1500(the 1500 call 2 spots to my left) and the 2 who called the big blind for 600, but folded the raise to 1500. so main pot is 7200, and side pot is 24,000.
the way it should be stated, u can never win from 1 person more then what you have. if you only have 1500TC, u can only win that amount from anyone who calls it, any raises over that are in the side pot, and you cant win.

Ok, got it, thanks everyone for the reply.
I kinda got the hang of it this past week in Vegas at Mandalay Bay. Placed 5th in a daily 30 person tournament. Sometimes it got confusing on the pots but if I boil it down to "you can only win, from those that call you, what you put in the pot" I think I understand.

When I say you can't win more money then you bet, I mean per person in the pot. In theory you could make 9 times what you put in if 9 other people at the table called you.
Sorry for not making that clear.
