I am going to be organizing a four day bachelor party and one of the guys coming is friends with an owner of a casino (silver sometihng I think). So the rooms will be cheap/free. That's why Reno not Vegas. Just wanted to get that out of the way first. I know it will be asked.
At any rate, we are all avid NL players and I'm wondering where the best places to play are? What are the waits like? Are the dealers/managers friendly?
I'll be asking my friend to ask his friend (the owner) but I have a feeling he won't be quite honest for obvious reasons. Also, I've never been to a casino with a large group of guys who all wanted to sit down and play poker together (against each other). What are the rules/etiquette to do so? Last thing I want is someone to think all of us are in on some cheating scheme and being the ring leader I'd rather like to stay away from "the room". Thanks in advance.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

I would suggest the Eldorado. Luckily for you, the Silver Legacy, which you're staying at, is connected to both the Eldorado and Circus Circus making it an easy jaunt over. Poker rooms in Reno are generally smaller than their counterparts in Las Vegas, but tend to be much less crowded. The Eldorado recently renovated their poker room and it now features 12 tables, if I remember correctly. Furthermore, they host NL tournaments throughout the week.

if u all want to play each other in NL why not just play at the hotel, why let the house take a rake if your all gonna sit at 1 table, makes it kinda pointless. Usually when we head to the casino in a group we all try for different tables no more then 3 at a table we try, cause then your just winning each others money most of the time when u sit down at a table of 10 with 8 friends.

We don't mind paying a rake. We are going to have fun, period. I'll probably be one of the very very very few who will play against strangers. I don't think my game is great, but I won't know until I try right?
Thanks for the info Pinnacle. I will deffinetly check out the Eldorado.
