When should I have folded?

I get AQo in mid position. There's a raise in front of me, which I call. Thene There's a re-rasie behind me and the original raiser caps it off. I figure since I already called 2 bets, I mights as well pay 2 more and see what the flop brings. All in all, six see the flop. I figure I'm up against at least one made hand, and maybe 2. Could be aces vs kings, in which case I screwed, but could also be kings against queens or even queens against jacks. One might also have AK, AQ or AJ and be playing it really strongly.

The flop comes 3, 5, 9 rainbow. The original raiser bets, and 2 after him call. I figure with so much $ in the pot, it is worth paying to see the turn. But I tell myself if there's a raise and re-raise behind me, I'm out. When the man who re-rasied pre-flop called, I figured he either had an ace a good kicker (hopefully not a king) or a middle pair.

An 8 came on the turn, and the original raiser came out betting again. Again, I called, figuring there was too much $ in the pot to walk away from, so I called.

A jack came on the river, and the same guy came out betting. I didn't have anything, so I folded. Now the guy who re-raised pr flop raised again. I'm thinking he must have had AJ or, more likely a pair of Jacks. He ends up winning the pot with 2 pair, J's and 3's.

w/ a capped bet preflop, I put at least one player on a pocket pair. When the flop comes up rags-I will fold

I agree with Dave. With that hand, any pair has you beat and with 5 others in the pot, one probably has a pair.
