How do you play overcards? Suppose you have KQo and the flop is 259 Now I usually will take it to the turn but the problem I see is that you only have six outs and with 47 cards left unseen that makes your odds nearly 8 to 1. Kind of high for a result that you will have top pair at best Now with the same hole cards and a flop of 26J Now you have a backdoor straight draw and 2 overcards If the turn comes with a 9 Now you have the inside draw and the two overcards giving you 10 outs. But I guess the real question here is is seeing the turn with just the 2 overcards and not even a backdoor straight draw or backdoor flush draw a sucker play to start with?

First of all, a common mistake is thinking three to the flush or three to a straight is a draw. It IS NOT. Don't even think about the "draws" because they don't exist-The odds of getting a runner-runner flush are about 30 to one, a runner-runner straight 40 to one or so.
Playing Overcards...If the flop comes out all babies, and it's checked to me, I will throw out a 1/3-1/2 the pot bet. If someone bets to me, throw it away.

Yeah. Don't be so caught up in what they have. If you see a baby flop, you'll see a lot of checking, so toss a bet out and see who folds. This will thin out the people on rags, or unimproved 'openable' hands . . . then, the card that would have helped them is know the anchor for your bluff!. You hope for one of the cards you are holding, another baby, or another oddball like a 10 or J. Say your flop is 2 4 9 rainbow, you raise - you knock out the people holding stuff like 3 8, etc, assuming they called at all. . . so an 8 hits, you raise again, and the other people holding aces think you paired up an 8 and you're about to crack them . . . or maybe they pair up an eight and call or raise you!
But aggression will often pull down a low flop - even people that make a pair on the flop are going to get scared in a hand like that.
Or you can just fold the mess and wait for a better hand, but I assumed you wanted advice on how to make something out of nothing, or advice for in the blind or whatever. . .
Of course, I'm crazy, so my advice, not always the best.
