I just ordered the Turbo software program and am anxiously waiting for it to arrive. Can anyone tell me if there is a particularly good way to begin with it? Also, in the demo version I noticed that the advisor will tell you what you're doing wrong on a particular hand. But rather than look to the advisor for help on each decision (which seems somewhat disruptive), can you just play a bunch of hands and then ask the advisor to determine whether your general tendencies are ok? Or is there a way to make this determination by using stats?
Thanks for any advice.

I've never used Wilson's software, but am very interested in hearing about it. Please keep us posted!

I'm very surprised that this topic apparently hasn't arisen here before. The Wilson software seems to be extremely popular. (It is discussed in the book Positively Fifth Street). You can download a demo version of it, but I'm not sure of the site. It's something like. www.wilson.com. If you do a search for Wilson Turbo Holdem, I am sure you will see it.

www.wilsonsw.com just in case anyone's counting... I haven't seen this either, but hey if it'll help it's worth a look, eh?

I just received the Wilson software and here are my impressions. Assuming that it's calculations are correct -- which I think is very likely -- it seems an excellent tool for figuring out starting hands. But whatever price they advertise -- I've already forgotten -- you should add on about $15 to purchase a more enhanced advisor WIlsons offers. The advisor summarizes your play after a number of hands, which is very helpful (as opposed to an "advisor" which recommends particular moves every step of the way).
Since it's only play money, I might lose interest in this product pretty fast. But if you can stay interested in play money, then I highly recommend this product.
And please be assured that I have absolutely no connection to the company or interest in promoting it.

I bought this thing awhile back and wasn't real sure what I thought of it at first. The graphics aren't that great (but they will have an updated version coming out later this year) and the interface isn't the best.
But I will say this, it teaches you how to play extremely tight and aggressive. After using it for awhile, I felt that the advisor was way to tight and that I was folding way too many hands. So I typically shrugged off the advice sometimes and neglected to file it away. Well soon after, I decided to try my hand online and had very mixed results (actually losing more often than not). So I revisited the software and played it some more, including numerous games in the "challenge Mike" setting (measures your play against the advice of the advisor). Pretty soon, I was holding my own or even beating the advisor.
When I went back online, I found that I played even tighter but was very aggressive when I did enter a pot. Within 2 weeks, I turned my remaining $65 into $350 by playing $10 SNGs and $25NL Ring games. What I found now is that I can get a little more bored since I am waiting for good hands. But to offset that, I will play 2-3 tables at once. So by playing tight and aggressive like the software teaches, I can wait for a good hand on multiple tables (less boring and give you more chances to increase your $$$/hour). I have found that I will make more money this way either through stealing blinds, taking down small pots or making people pay big time when they do go against me. But it is still all about patience.
I think that software has been the biggest help to me and my success. The second biggest help is learning money mgmt and Expected return (read "small stakes Hold'em" by Sklansky).
As far as using the software...I suggest doing the "challenge Mike" contest a few times just to see how you stack up to the software. Doing this first is kind of eye-opening when you see just how loose and/or bad you are.
Hope this helps.

it's nice software , but it's to configurable which can make you confused
than it's very expensive..89 $

Well, the configurabilty is what's nice about it, from what I hear.
The worst part of the price is that it seems to keep it out of the local computer sales bins.

I have owned Turbo for quite a while. They have several versions the main version which only supports Limit-Hold-Em, Tournament which supports No-Limit and a Couple others which support Stud and other variations. I love this software. Not only do you have the the main game and challenges of which both offer the ability to advise you of mistakes in your game (very customizable), but you can also setup simulations. I think the simulations are probably the greatest. It really helps me when I get bad beats. I run a simulation and verify that I am making the right decisions, and will be paid off for it in the long run. I would recommend this software as a training aid and support tool for anyone interested in playing poker and making profit from it.

I am DEEPLY interested in the simulation aspect. . . I've heard it lets you set up long simulations of say, opening certain hands, or making certain plays in limit.
