ya

Heres how I did....

I sit down and talking to a couple of the players at my table. The guy a couple seats over finished 28th in the world series of poker this year. He was at the table with Doyle Brunson. He was the most annoying player ever. All he talked about was how great he is and how well he did in the world series. i didnt like him right away. play starts and im a bit nervous because everyone at my table seems to know each other from the higher limit tables and that intimidates me the 5/10 player. I quickly learn I am in the best seat at the table. There are three very very loose players at the table. They are all sitting directly to my right and everyone else is extremely tight.

This is my first live tourney experience and i am excited. I got seated at table 1 seat 5. This is the main table that is right in front of the spectators. They are all directly to my back and a lot of them are rooting for me because im the little guy. It was a very cool experience. Later on in the casino people would come up to me and remark on a few of my hands. It was wierd having people I didnt know and werent playing with me remembering my hands and telling me how good of a play it was or whatnot.
I get a few crappy hands and fold then I get 10,J suited and limp in. flop comes rag,10,rag rainbow. The loosest and most aggressive player raises to 200. I got about 800 in chips left. I reraise to 400. He calls. turn comes a rag he checks. I go all in for about another 400. he folds.

I kind of work my way up to about 2000 in chips and get A,A. I figure great im gonna raise and everyones gonna fold. However the guy 2 seats to my right raises to 400 (blinds are 50/100) then the guy directly to my right goes all in for about 2500. I quickly call. everyone else folds even the original raiser. The all in guy had A,K suited. He got no help and I take down a huge pot and go on to chip leader at my table by a huge margin. I keep gaining chips from there. I have about 8000 at the first break. Chip leader for the tourney has 9000.

Stupid world series player calls an all in with A,K offsuit. other guy has Q,Q. flop comes nothing. turn K. he has this big smile on his face and then the river comes QUEEN!!! That left him with half the big blind and he goes out 2 hands later in about 45th out of the 50 for the day. I was happy to see him leave and happy to have outlasted him after all his talk about how great he was.

After break i am goin up and down a bit. Blinds reach 400/800 and im not winning any hands. People are raising to 2000 or more preflop and i havent got a hand that is worthy of limping in. I am down to about 4000 and i get Q,10 suited. I know its not a great hand and i make the fatal flaw of trying to buy the blinds by raising tot 2000. Get reraised all in by a loose player and I call. He flips over pocket jacks. Flop comes J,rag, rag turn rag river J. Giving him quad jacks and me Q high. I know it was a mistake but I was desperate and already committed half my chips on a bluff. Live and learn i guess. I went out in the low 20's. Not sure exactly but soon after i left they went down to 2 tables.

I think i held my own and early on showed i wasnt a punk kid that was going to be intimidated by big bets and aggressive play. I had a great experience and cant wait to go back for the next one.

As long as you played your best with the cards given you should be proud of yourself.

what was the buy-in for the tourny, if only 50 people entered, and if u won, you would be 50k richer.

Posted Sun Jun 27, 2004 4:50 pm GMT by Always_Bored
250 people in the tourney. 50 people per day, top 10 each day qualify for the final day. $225 entry. rebuys for the first 90 minutes. $200 add on after 90 minutes.

By the end of thursday the prize pool was up to 110 thousand. They estimated it to be about 150 thousand by saturday. Then the final is going on right now.

very well done!!!!! My only question is WHAT happened to the 8000 in TC??? I can understand that the cards were crappy, but thae cards shouldnt matter with that stack.... (easy for me to say). Again, VERY well done!!!!!!

the 8000 slowly went away with blinds and losing a couple hands.

my thinking was that you could be SUPER AGGRESSIVE with the big stack and push people around, picking up blinds and limped in bets.....
