Playing at a live table in MN a new player w/ a thick southern accent sat down and immediately started bragging.
2-3 hands after his arrival, I have 6-6. The game was $3/$6 and we both called the big blind (along w/ 5 others). The flop come 10 10 5. I check, he bets and I call (all others call as well). The turn is a 6, I now have a boat and have him pegged w/ a set of 10s. I check raise, he reraises and I cap the betting, he bets into me the whole time. I am thinking that he probably has a strong kicker (only reason I see him reraising my check raise). Besides, if he has the 5 I still have him beat, the only thing that would take me is pocket 10s. The river is a Q, I bet, he raises and I call. He had 10-Q to catch his boat on the river.
I dont mind losing-but I dont like giving some loud mouth jerk a huge pot right off the bat. I felt better after thinking about it and remembering Phil Ivey getting knocked out of the WSOP on a similar hand w/ 66 when Moneymaker caught a A on the river to make a bigger boat.
The very next hand I had big slick and the flop comes AAJ. I was in the big blind and raised each round and was reraised on the river by the button who caught a flush w/ 4 8 diamonds. The b*tch was on her feet ready to take a smoke break when the jerk w/ 10 Q stopped her and said "dont you just want to see your cards before you go?" It is lucky that I am not a violent person, because I was ready to punch that dude in the mouth.
