Is this a trick question????
The undisputed champion, best hand in Hold 'em is a pair of Aces. Hands down. It's sometimes called "Pocket Aces," as a pair in the hole is referred to as "pocket" Q's, 10's, whatever. Maybe you misunderstood whoever was speaking and they said pocket and not rocket. I've not ever heard of any "rocket" hand. Then again, it's not rocket science, either.

I have heard many things, Pocket Rockets, The Big Daddy, Amercian Airlines is the worst I have heard. Two bullets, snake eyes, and others. I call them pocket rockets or two bullets. There are several online sites that have great amounts of names for the AA and others. Like 10-2 is the Doyle Brunson, AK is big slick, A8 is deadmans hand, QQ is 4 tits (pardon my language carson). During the 2000 WSOP Chris"Jesus"Ferguson beat someone with pocket 66's and a 6 on the flop or a draw card of some sort, and headlines in a LV news article read. Jesus takes down the Devil. 72 is refered to as the beer hand. KQ is called the marriage. AJ is the Ajax and KJ is Kojak. I hope that this answers your question and gives you some lingo to use at your next poker night.

I can understand why Doyle doesn't play AQ. It dominates a lot of hands but when you mess around with it you always seem to run into AK or QQ up. Well, I can't particularly remember TOO many times when that has happened to me but it HAS happened no doubt. I remember Phil Ivey being knocked out of 2 tournies holding it. Another with a guy holding it. You know, it's just one of those tricky hands.

A queen refers to a MALE who acts like a FEMALE (or someone who is GAY). A 3 when spoken in English sounds like the word TRAY, which is what a waiter or waitress uses to carry a lot of drinks to a table at a restaurant.

Thus Q3, can be referred to as the Sanfransisco Waiter because the stereotype of Waiters in Sanfransisco is that they are all GAY, thus very woman-like in attitude and actions.

Q3
Qeeen, with a tray.

three doesn't sound like tray, not the way i pronounce(sp?) it Question

Posted Thu Jan 15, 2004 10:44 am GMT by ballbp
Threes are pronounced "tray" by a lot of the announcers that call the cards out-loud during tournaments so the audience knows what's on the board. There are monitors that show the board but they still have people that call out the amount bet and what the number and suits of the cards on the table.

I know of a couple more that nobody has mentioned yet. These I have heard Jesse May, commentator on TV poker in the UK, use:

J4 - this is known as the done hand because "when you play it, you're usually done."

K9 - this is the sawmill because "if you play it too much that's where you'll end up working".

Although he commentates on UK TV (for those on the other side of the Atlantic) he is american so I think both of these names must be of US origin.

There is also one more that I can remember - "The Montana Banana" but I can't remember what it is, it is either 93 or 96 but I, not being american, have absolutely no idea why. Perhaps somebody from the States could enlighten us.

A couple more for the lingo:

2 2 = ducks (like deuces)
Q 6 = moon dog (play it too much you will be like a howling dog)
Q 7 = computer hand (out of 169 starting hands which don't consider suit
the Q 7 is the middle average hand)
9 2 = montana banana (don't ask me why)

Here is a new addition to the list:

The Howard Dean Hand:

2 7 Off-Suit

Because if you call an all-in before the flop with this hand, you'll come in third, go crazy and blow up with unreserved anger, in a psychopathic rant - and get kicked out of the state.

22 is also the "Ballet-Outfit"
