I will be in vegas soon for a business show. I will only be able to play poker in the nights and wont be available all the time. I would like to try my luck (and what very newly developed skill i might have aquired) at poker there. I like the idea of going into a tourney without any rebuys because I would not have to start with the disatvantage of a small stack of chips (I porobably dont want to go to a table with less than $100). If we all start with the same amount of chips and it is something like 1500 chips or 1000 chips or even 800 chips I wont be scared to use the chips to try to get an early lead. If I was playing with chips that were worth their actual value I would proably play much less aggresively. It is a fault I know, but it is something I am working on and have not yet overcome.
So all that for my question. I havent been to Vegas before for poker. What kind of tourneys might I find in vegas that would last hours and not days? Will I find something like that for a $100 buy in? How many players do you think I might expect to find in such a tourney? Are they common or will I have to hunt them down?
Thanks for any advice at all!

i think the luxor, mandalay bay, and the sahara all have the types of tournaments you are looking for. the guy you want to ask about this is General Sal. he lives in vegas, so try PM'ing him for additional info.

If your out there please post your answers here.
I too will be in Vegas soon. 30th through the 2nd.
I want to play some ring and tourneys. LOW limit. No bankroll to play.
Any recommendations for cheap poker or tourneys $100 or under?
Thanks!

At the very least it tells us that there will be plenty of places to play.
I would still like to find out from the general, though, which location is LEAST likely to have professionals playing or which one will most likely be filled with people like me - not really a fish but by no means a shark.
good luck in vegas RU! .. btw I think that is the weekend of the WPT showdown at mirage? check into it if you dont already know about it. that would be a fun event to watch live if it is that weekend!
