Playing in a hold 'em game yesterday, just about out of cash. I pick up AK diamonds and bet semi-big, everyone folds but 1 other. Flop comes JK diamonds, Jack. So i got flush, straight, straight flush, Ace, a bunch of draws, so i go all in (remember i was down to practically nothing.) So we flip over and hes got pocket jacks, 4 of kind. On the turn i pick up the queen of diamonds for the Royal Flush. So the point of the story was that a 4 of a kind lost in straight up hold em to a royale, random shuffled, and all that good stuff. Can anyone figure out the odds of a royal flush and a 4 of a kind showing up in the same hold em game, only 4 cards flipped??

Well anyway...The odds of that are ridiculous. I'm pretty sure this is wrong but..1/47 (the card you need to make the flush), so you have a 1.--something chance of making the flush, percentile wise I mean. And that was your ONLY out to beat that guy (you could have had an open-ended straight flush draw, I can't remember, in that case it would be 2)...So the chances of that are insanely rare, and yes...You got very very lucky. Your chance in getting the card 1/47 (I don't really count the cards already out there)
