Nobody DOES read that line.
But 1) That's a HELL of a nice game.
and 2) How about 38.25/hr? In a 4/8 poker game? A new personal best. Yeah, that's nice. Place is full of tourists who probably just came in to lose 2 or 3 hundred and some of them must be thinking "Hey, poker! I've played that!" Yes, they do things so incredibly, unpredictably stupid that it costs you money....but they make up for it by paying you off handsomely when three people call your 2nd raise and you're holding the nut flush.
They were so bad that I pissed off the regulars by--yes, I did it, shoot me--coaching a few of the more clueless.
There was even a fellow who raised early when jacks flopped and raised later when the turn and the river were both kings! Yessssss! And whom did he raise?????
He raised a man who made it three bets pre-flop on the button after I raised in the third seat (with a pair of queens.) Our pre-flop re-raiser made not another noise until the first king hit of 4th street, when he made it $16 and later that same turn when he capped (yes, the jacks actually three bet that river king!!!!!!!!!!). When it went four bets on the river with JJ9KK I figured OMG it's four K's v four J's and I was praying to Great Poker Player in Heaven that these Chippawas had a bad beat jackpot worth, say, 25 grand of which I was soon to get, say, a cool $812.50.
BUT NO-o-o-o-o-o. Mr. Got-pretty-excited-about-those-flopped-jacks had........
A jack. DUHHHYEppp. Gotta a jack here I shirley due! Yup and that makes, let's see...a one, two...by jingo it's THREE. Wow.
And that was, apparently, as high as he could count.
So I asked him, Yes I did, "Well, Homer, what hand, exactly, did you put him ON?"
And he said, "Put him on?"
And I said, "Yes, you know, like what did you sort of think he MIGHT have?"
And he said (I am NOT making this up) "How would I know what HE would have?"
And I said "Why yes. Indeed. How WOULD you know? Silly me. Dumb question. Put in two yellow ones, you're the BIG blind this time."
So it's a nice game. It surely is. If you have to take a cab from Detroit I think you are still money ahead. Yep I shirley due.
