Exactly how does the house make money with this game both online and at real casinos? I love poker and I have played with friends for years now. I am now considering playing online for fun but I never understood how the house makes money at this game. Somebody please explain, thanks.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

THE RAKE! 8)

If your just starting out, you can beat the rake initially by finding a good bonus for starting an account. Read the posts here and figure out which site is best for you and buy in at a time that gives you a nice bonus. Every site has a sign up bonus, but a few have special times that they match even more.
Good luck.

I hate to sound condesending but I just wanted to be sure you knew what the rake was.
The rake is when the house takes X% out of every pot. From what I have heard it isn't uncommon in a 3/6 game to have a 10% rake that maxes out at $2 for online play. Thus in a 3/6 game, online, the house could pull in $2 per hand at 60 hands per hour.
From what I have read actual casinos end up having a higher rake max but frankly it is just what I have read and not experience.
I hope that helps.
