A couple of questions from me...I'll keep checking in |

All right, well I have quite a couple of answers. I've played my share with some people (doing it wrong sadly ) and slowly I've caught on, just a bit. I won't proclaim myself all right, because I don't know all of the answers to the questions that I put up amongst the other noobies. (My questions are in bold)
So, here I go. First question is involved in betting. Okay, here's the outcome. We have players A, B, C, and D.
As for now, it doesn't matter who has what cards. Say A is Dealer, that means two B and C are blinds...but which ones? B is small blind I presume (thats what I've picked up) and C is Big Blind. Now say the minimum is two chips (pretend chips have NO value) and that the maximum is 8 chips.
Play B, being small blind, puts in only 1 chip, correct?
Player C puts in 2 chips, correct?
Now, say I am going correctly with all of this. Who would be the next person to bid, person D? If so, this being 2/4, can he/she start out at any amount of chips he/she wishes?
Also, I play with three people usually. A, B, C.
A is dealer, B and C are blinds....does A go after B and C have thrown in their blinds? Or does it go to B...or C?
Now...I have ANOTHER question (almost there ). How can betting go? Say amongst 3 or 4 or how many players, how does betting work?
A is dealer. B and C blindes and D is the other. So, I presume D is going, correct? How much can he start out with a 2/4 game? 2 chips is what I'm thinking.
Also, does A, whom it goes to after D, HAVE to raise it? Can he just call it? Say, he calls it like I asked. Do blindes HAVE to raise themselves? Now, presume they don't have to raise but they call themselves. It gets back to Person D. Person D has pockets, and is sure of winning (think of it as pre-flop you can say). Can person D, after everyone has called his bet, raise? Or must the bets go into the pot?
Just about it. Thanks in advance if you take the time to answer is. I'm pretty sure I messed up my grammar. It's around 4 here in Chi-town, so you can imagine
Thanks.
If you find anything unclear, PM me and I might put it into a better question form.

I typed my answers in CAPS so it would be easierr to follow. And welcome to the forums

Play B, being small blind, puts in only 1 chip, correct? YOU ARE CORRECT
Player C puts in 2 chips, correct? YES
Now, say I am going correctly with all of this. Who would be the next person to bid, person D? If so, this being 2/4, can he/she start out at any amount of chips he/she wishes?
IN A LIMIT GAME THE FIRST PERSON TO BET CAN ONLY BET THE MINIMUM FOR THAT ROUND(OR RAISE IF HE COMES AFTER THE BLINDS LIKE IN YOUR EXAMPLE). IN A 2/4 GAME, HE WOULD ONLY BE ABLE TO CALL THE BET OF 2 OR RAISE IT TO 4. PRE FLOP AND FLOP BETS START WITH THE LOWER NUMBER OF THE LIMIT, ONCE YOU HIT 4TH AND 5TH STREET, THE MINIMUM BECOMES 4 IN A 2/4 GAME.
Also, I play with three people usually. A, B, C.
A is dealer, B and C are blinds....does A go after B and C have thrown in their blinds? Or does it go to B...or C?
"A" WOULD GO FIRST PREFLOP, ALWAYS THE PERSON AFTER THE BIG BLIND. NOW ONCE THE FLOP COMES, THE FIRST PERSON TO ACT WOULD BE THE PERSON LEFT OF THE DEALER(SMALL BLIND).
Now...I have ANOTHER question (almost there ). How can betting go? Say amongst 3 or 4 or how many players, how does betting work?
IN A LIMIT GAME YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE BETTING STRUCTURE. SO LETS SAY WE HAVE A THREE PERSON GAME, THE 2 PEOPLE PUT UP THE BLINDS, THE NEXT PERSON CAN EITHER CALL THE BET OF 2, FOLD, OR RAISE IT ANOTHER 2 FOR A TOTAL OF 4. LETS SAY FOR THIS EXAMPLE HE JUST CALLS THE BET, NOW THE SMALL BLIND CAN EITHER CALL BY THROWING IN ANOTHER CHIP(HE ONLY PUT ONE IN SO FAR), FOLD, OR RAISE TO 4. LETS SAY HE RAISE TO 4, NOW THE BIG BLIND CAN EITHER CALLL FOR ANOTHER 2 CHIPS, FOLD, OR RAISE TO 6. IF THE SMALL BLIND HAD JUST CALLED AND NOT RAISED, THE BIG BLIND CAN "CHECK" MEANING HE ALREADY HAS THE BET IN THE POT AND DOESNT' WISH TO RAISE. WHEN YOU RAISE IN A LIMIT GAME, YOU CAN ONLY RAISE ONE BET AT A TIME. IF SOMEBODY BETS 2, YOU CAN ONLY RAISE IT TO 4, YOU CAN'T JUMP RIGHT TO 8. IF ITS A NO LIMIT GAME, WELL YOU CAN PRETTY MUCH BET HOWEVER MANY CHIPS YOU HAVE.
A is dealer. B and C blindes and D is the other. So, I presume D is going, correct? How much can he start out with a 2/4 game? 2 chips is what I'm thinking.
YOU ARE CORRECT
Also, does A, whom it goes to after D, HAVE to raise it? Can he just call it? Say, he calls it like I asked. Do blindes HAVE to raise themselves?
BLINDS DON'T HAVE TO RAISE THEMSELVES. THE SMALL BLIND WILL HAVE TO PUT IN ANOTHER CHIP TO STAY IN TO MATCH THE BET OF 2 AND THE BIG BLIND CAN JUST "CHECK" TO STAY IN THE HAND.
Now, presume they don't have to raise but they call themselves. It gets back to Person D. Person D has pockets, and is sure of winning (think of it as pre-flop you can say). Can person D, after everyone has called his bet, raise? Or must the bets go into the pot? YOU CANNOT RAISE YOUR OWN BET(FOR BOTH LIMIT AND NO LIMIT GAMES). IF EVERYBODY CALLS YOUR BET, YOU GO TO THE NEXT STAGE OF THE GAME.

Nutflush pretty much has it all covered.
In response to:

In almost all games you follow what Nutflush said, no one HAS to raise. However, you will occasionaly find Raise or Fold games. These games are played exactly like a normal limit game with the exception that there is no calling until you reach the cap (maximum number of bets). So, for instance, you are playing 2/4 with a 3 raise cap. On the flop, SB pays $1, BB pays $2. After that, the only option anyone has is to raise to $4 or fold. If someone does raise, then the next person can only Fold or Re-Raise to $6, etc.
I hope this isn't confusing you, but I wanted to throw it out there.

Thank you VERY much Nut and Russ, thank you.
Also, for another question...what does "3 cap raise mean?"
Sorry for making a thread for myself...I just got a bunch of questions, and they pop out of no where.
Edit: Another 2 question. This is VERY similiar to my other question. I don't quite clearly get it, because I am not sure if you can check or raise it.
We play players A,B,C, and D. Correct? Blinds are posted. D puts in 2 (thats the only thing he can start out with) A calls that, puts in 2. B (SB) puts in 1 chip and (SB) calls cause he calls that cause he put in two chips for his blind. D person can not do a thing, the flop is thrown out now? And then BS starts with the after flop, correct?
I always thought that blinds went directly into the pot? How we play is that we put our bets directly in front of us, away from our normal chips but away from the pot. So we don't have to the remembering game and what not. So, look at it this way.
Four people playing. A, B, C and D. B=SB and C=BB. Don't the blinds go DIRECTLY into the pot? They're not bets, are they? They're in the pot to assure there is a winning.
Look at it this way. D goes and calls two cause he has pockets. A looks at his cards, folds. B and C do the same. Does that mean that D gets the blinds chips or nothing? Cause I thought blinds chip automatically went into the main pot?
Thanks again. I know, lots of questions. You might have to do some breaking around because it takes me awhile to perfect my questions ot my capability.

A Cap is the highest number of raises you can have. So a 3 raise cap means that you have the first bet (the Big Blind) and you can only have 3 raises after that (for a total of $8 in $2/$4 for instance). Then on the flop it would be again a bet, and a max of 3 raises (again $8 ). For the turn and the river it would be a max of $16 or $4 bet and 3 raises Max.
Here's an illustration just incase there's any confusion. 5 person table, players 1-5 Player 1 is the button, player 2 is the Small Blind with $1 and Player 3 is the Big Blind with $2.
1 Button
2 $1
3 $2
4 raise to $4
5 raise to $6
1 caps it at $8
After this the other players can either call or fold, but there is no more raising.

The blinds are bets, they are just bets that two people are forced to make in order for there to be something in the pot every hand. When you have a blind position, you are forced to put up the blind, you have the option to fold when it gets back to you but your blind is part of the pot now. What they do at our casino is when you bet or put up a blind, it is kep in front of you, but far enough away from your chip stack. When all the calling, raising is done, the dealer takes all the chips and puts them into the pot for the next round of betting.

Okay, I don't know if this belongs here, but this is very irritating. It seems as if when I start to play, I got EVERYTHING! I mean I'm going big, strong...I'm making some all right decisions.
Then out of the friggin blue, I started to lose everything and I end up busting wide open with a fat zero...what the hell is this? Does this happen to any of you?

Godsend everyone loses sometime. Perhaps you can give us examples though. Its kinda hard to elaborate on your situation with little to no details.

Dicsipline and practice. Eventually, you'll lose so much money that you'll either quit or get better. :D

8)
In a limit game...a proper bankroll is all it takes to make a profit....
....about 300 big bets and never more than 10% of your entire bankroll!
