Hi all,

My local club is putting on a no limit game (today actually) having only ever had pot limit games, i will play today or the next time it is on.

now being a pot limit player (as is everyone else at club) how do i change my game betting to no limit, in pot limit i very rarely bet anything less than pot (per Mr Cloutier) unless i am trying to "milk", how should i change my betting? to play this game

thanks gents

Mark

Interesting Q. I host occasional pot-limit tourneys. Originally I did so to protect new guests who were just attempting tourney play and had always played limit poker. Didn't want to see them buy in and get wiped out 10 minutes later and have to go home without having had their money's worth of fun.

My honest appraisal is that pot-limit takes a lot more skill. I mean, how hard is it to make an all-in move and watch everyone abandon the pot to you when you've got your pocket Aces?

Here's my tip for adusting to the NL game: be wary. This is a trapping game. Pot limit can be that way, too, so the adjustment may not be too dramatic. It's just that you can get hurt a lot faster in NL than PL, but you knew that. You'll probably find that some moron makes a horrible call on an inside staight draw and wipes out a solid player who went all in after he flopped a set. In pot limit, you just can't get crushed like that.
