Glad I bailed

Playing in a $10 live tourney last night (about 45 people) and we're down to the last two tables. I get 10c 10s in mid position, raise to 3000 (blinds were 500/1k) and the button reraises to 6k. The SB calls and I fold, as the guy who raised me had been playing tight. Flop comes Ks Kc Ad. The small blind bets 2000 and the button just calls. The turn brings 7h, they both CHECK!! The river was some rag, and the SB goes all in, which the other guy calls without hesitation. The button shows Kh Ac, and the SB? Well, Ah As of course!!!!!

The button gets knocked out as the guy with Aces had him covered, and "Big Slick" didn't even say goodbye. He just picked up his soda and walked out.

Nice lay down here. You had a pretty solid hand so some might have a hard time laying it down for another 3000 since you already put in but I still like that move cause more times then not you wouldn't hit your set.

The guy who raised me had been playing pretty tight the whole night. We'd both been at the same table since the tourney started, so I had some background to go on. I figured he had KK AA AK or QQ, so folding wasn't too hard. But I sure do hate to "donate" 3k to a pot I won't be getting involved in!

Donating 3k is better than hitting the road like Big Slick did :D I think you made the right call, you raised with a strong hand and folded when you knew you were beat. How did you end up overall in the tourney?

I folded pocket AA after the flop the other night. And it was the right move, I was beat.

I busted out 5th Sad The blinds were excrutiatingly high at this point. I was the short stacked and went all in on A 9 suited. The SB folded and the BB (chip leader) called with A 8o. He caught an eight on the river to bust me out. Unfortunately, only the top 3 got paid. 1st was worth $270, 2nd was $135, and third got $45.
