Tips on heads up play...

I was in a long tournament and I worked my way back from having the shortest stack to being the chip leader with over 80% of the chips. I was down to the final two and I had a definite chip lead roughly 80% to 20%. and blinds at $20/$40. Its really embarassing, but I lost!! My buddy went all in on the first hand and I folded my 5 2 off suit. He went all in again and I called with J9 suited and lost, he caught a low pair. Next hand I raised $20 with pocket 9s he called, flop came with one over card a 10. I checked, he followed, I checked on the turn with a low card, he followed. I sensed weakness so I went all in 'cause I doubted he had the ten, he called and it turns out he did have the 10 and he won. Last hand I was a little pissed, I got AsJs and went all in before the flop, he called with the pocket 9s and knocked me out of the tourney.

Is there any strategy in playing a guy with a short stack with nothing to lose? Did I play my hands wrong? Or was it just bad luck? This happened last week and its still on my mind. Or any general tips on playing heads up 'cause that seems to be my weakness.

I'd say u did ok except the hand where u had pocket 9s. In heads up, I'd far rather take more smaller pots than risk a slow burner and get hit big cos since the blinds are going to be getting u every hand, u have to grab wot money u can as often as u can. Plus heads up, u gotta be super-aggressive to survive and I think I would have probably pushed all-in with the 9s against that flop! Of course, if he'd called I'd have lost but he may have folded u the pot which meant u could live to fight another day.................

Just my 2 cents for wot they are worth the way I've been playing lately!
