Trop AC tourny question... |

On their website it says, $30 + $10 entry fee, re-buys and add ons included.
The last part means they are part of the tourny right? Not like included in the cost? Because, to me, that would make no sense.
Just wondering so I know how much money to bring (I'm a broke college student).
On a side note, when going to a tourny, for an inexperienced player, would you say initial fees, one rebuy and one add on would be sufficient? In regards to being short-stacked after the add on period, not in regards to my general play. I'm not a great player yet, so I figured after one re-buy if I bust out again, it's for a reason.
If everything works out I'll have a short review of how I did.

The +10 goes to the casino. If it was me playing i would bring money just to enter the tournament. I wouldn't rebuy in or add on but thats just me.

I'll tell ya that at the Trop and Borgata (which are the 2 I play at) just about everyone does a rebuy and the add on. Some people rebuy right from the start but I never do that. I would rather try to take their rebuy chips first. lol
But yes if you don't want to be outstacked at least plan on doing the rebuy because you usually get double the amount of chips that you start with so the rebuy is a deal. And there is no casino fee when doing the rebuys and add ons, it is just the cost of the tourney.
Hope this helps out.

Thanks, figured as much.
Didn't get to play the tourny cause I got there too late and it was sold out. I played 2/4 instead and was up about 70 bucks in the first hour. I then learned a very valuable (and expensive) lesson. Drink in moderation. Being able to handle 12-15 drinks at a party is a lot different than handling 10 at the poker table. I finished the night down and have only myself to blame.
I was however pleasantly suprised at the play. All I hear are horror stories and maybe it was just my table, but play was very "normal". No gettin sucked out on crazy draws or anything, and I was actually able to steal the pot twice. I was very happy with my play for the first part of the night...

Fat white lady with a black husband?
I played in the tourny on Monday, I didn't catch any cards, and I learned that I don't really enjoy tourneys all that much...maybe because it was a horrible first experience.

i didnt see the lady, just her husband he was in his 50s older but white, supposedly she was the chip leader with like 10 left or so, knocked out 2 on 1 hand. In those tournys its all bout catching the cards, cause people will call with crap or on gutshots, esp if your all in, and they will outdraw you, when they shouldnt of even called with like 1 out and 1 card to come.
