I was greatly inspired by offsuitk's quest for 1K that I decided to make my own. Basically the same thing, except that I started from ground, with $0 in my account.
I played in a freeroll, finished in the money, got $2. Sweet!! 8)
I played in a $1 tournament, finished 5th, got $36. Nice!! 8)
I played a few SnGs, NL games, and after a couple of days, I was up to $110!!
That's when I started believing, and things started to go bad...
I lost a few hands in NL, but that wasn't dramatical, but every SnGs I played, I was getting kicked out in horrible ways. So bad, that I started to question my play. I actually believed that it wasn't a good idea to raise with KQs in late position, because everytime I raised, I lost, either to AQ, or AK, at least 90% of the times. The cards didn't help really, everytime I caught something big, I was getting crushed on the river by a stupid draw...
Today, all I could afford was one last SnG. Things were not going too well, of course... I was patient, no problem there. I flopped two pairs once, and some guy called me all the way, he caught his straight on the river, of course. I was now shortstacked, so I said next huge hand, I go all-in. Then, 3 or 4 hands later, AA!! Sweet!! First time in like a week!! I go all-in, someone calls with 4-5 offsuit (!!!) and flops the nut straight... WTF?!
Ok, ok, I now this can happen, heck, it's not the first time, and in poker everything can (and will) happen. I just wish I could have a little more luck... pretty hard to rely on skills alone.
Anyway, I'm back to my original $2 from my freeroll... and now, I'm bound to get great cards for a long long time  .

Play the $1 tournies man.
I was up as well...I was playing with Pacific's $10 initial free money. Got it up to about $30 then decided I was good enough to play some SNGs and real money $5+$1 tournies. I wasn't hitting the cards or playing right and I was down to around 5 and just havin a good time playing the $1 tournies, I've finished in the money in a few times and am back up....
