Yet another bad beat

Posted Sat Aug 07, 2004 11:20 pm GMT by DShiferaw50
Im dealt pockets J's and i raise preflop. I get 2 callers. The FLop comes up 8 Q J. The person ahead of me bets HUGE. Im thinking as to what he could possibly have. So i called, and the other guy folded. We kept betting at eachother and then he flips over his 9 10. Im like.......wtf......i cant beleive i couldnt read him. I mean, I doubt theres any way to win that hand, besides raising a whole bunch pre flop.

That's not a bad beat, that was a silly play.

He could have had:

1) The obvious straight.
2) Trip queens.

The fact that he reraised you should have set off alarm bells. Trips are a good hand, but unless they're top trips, you have to be careful with them, because they can lose you a lot of money.

Depending how much he raised compared to what was in the pot, I'd have folded if it really as huge, or just called to see a card.
