CRAZY techniques

Recently boredom has set in, and the other night i decided to play NO LIMIT (FREE table 10 players) and i folded every single hand regardless of what i had, i even folded 2 aces Sad

20 mins later there were 4 of us left i was on approx 450 from my original 800 and a few big raises later i stole a few blinds, got myself up to 700. Then i kept on folding again. and before i knew it i was guaranteed 3rd place. Did i mention that is was tournament play?

What I would like to know is has anyone ever tried this? maybe it would wrk best on a 5 seater table where 3rd = stake back.
And how do the other players combat this sort of tactic?

I also played an equally crazy method whilst playing FIXED LIMIT, i basically made sure that i saw the flop with every single hand regardless of what i had or how many times i was raised. Once i saw the flop i played very defensively.

Using the folding method i came 2nd.

Using the aggressive pre flop method i won 3 comps in a row, and then came no where 3 times in a row.

Anyone tried anything lik this?

I could never fold AA preflop in a SNG...never.

Never have used the tactic that you employed, but I do play rather tight in early stages of 10 seat SNG's. I still play premium hands and might limp in late postiton w/other playable hands. I usually loosen up more as the blinds raise and the seats empty. Alot depends on the other players though. If I have notes on them and have alot of loose or reckless players, I'll play super tight till a few seats have been eliminated. If it's tight table I'll play a lil looser than normal and steal a bit more blinds than usual. All depends on the notes i have (or dont), or how quickly I get a table/player feel.

I don't play limit SNG's, so no comment on that.

I just noticed you said FREE table for NL.

I was speaking of $5 & $20 SNG's in my comments. The free tables will nearly always be very loose, especially early on. Even then I'd not be able to let AA go pre-flop.

I really don't play those free tourneys anymore. I think you can get into bad habbits. But when I did, I did do something like you once in a while. And sure, you can go pretty far just posting and folding but really, what's the point. Why play? TO win a $1 or 2? No, we play because we enjoy playing. I realized I was there to have fun and watching everyone else play and me just sit there to make the final table was, well, stupid.

A bet a 3/4 of the people I saw on this site were either A) Post and Fold people, or b) Bet like a madman and let luck dominate the game. Either way, it really sucks to anyone who really enjoys the game.
