Yes, as long as two of your pairs are the same rank.
Even Freddy Deeb said he gave the guy way too much credit and he should've eliminated him much earlier if only he'd known. I kind of like the way nobody told him, he didn't even know until the announcer said the other guy won. Then he had to lay the cards out in order to figure it out. I still don't know what straight he saw.
So, maybe there is hope for me. 8)

Thats why Omaha is such a good challenging be wide awake type of game. Can you imagine how even more confused Lawson would have been if they were playing Omaha HI/Low 8 ?
A good book to read on Omaha Poker is Ken Warrens, "Winner's Guide To Omaha Poker" Published in 2003.

I saw a good description of Omaha Hi/Lo somewhere, maybe here?
the jist of it was ........
everyone is dealt out 4 cards, someone bets out, everyone calls, flop comes, everyone checks their cards, some people check until someone raises, everyone checks their cards again, then everyone calls again, same thing again on the turn and river until everyone has their money in and the pot is HUGE. Everyone turns over their cards and then sit for 10 minutes looking at their cards, everyone elses cards and each other. eventually a Hi winner and a Lo winner are declared and it all starts over again.

That's pretty close WM! The number of possibilities is huge and the board can and often will turn a butt-ugly hand into a winner. I've seen decent dealers misread hands a number of times in Omaha8. Counting 'outs' can be an adventure and often it's the 'drawing' hand that has the best of it. I think it's a VERY fun game to play but the reading of hands at the showdown can be...confusing.
What suprises me about Lawson's misread was that IIRC, the cards he needed were neither in his hand nor on the board. I think he needed a 6 or a J for a straight and there was no 6 or J in his hand. So I don't think it was the classic "trying to use 3 cards from your pocket" mistake.

Yeah the hand he had was 8d8s9s5c and community was Tc7h4cTd2h and the hand he thought he had was 7,8,9,T !! i cant laugh i actually did something similiar in a Hold 'Em game the other night check raised a guy when i had 9TJQ he called me and that was that
of course if anyone woulda asked i woulda claimed the bluff 8)

The best part was that after he figured it out. He tipped over all of his chips into the pot by accident. I was laughing so hard I cried. Personally, I think he was hustling everyone.

That was hilarious. The best part was that on one said anything when he threw down his cards and said "I have a straight." They played out the hand then started pushing chips towrds the other guy. Then Lawson was all confused and tried to prove he had the straight. haha. Very funny.

Haha, I don't think so. There was another hand vs. Freddy Deeb in which the board was K-Q-8-8-5 and Lawson had 5s full of 8s (the bottom boat). As Freddy was calling Lawson's pot-size reraise he tells him; "I have a full house so I'm gonna call". Lawson should have known right then and there that AT BEST he was looking at a split and was most likely beat. But he proudly said he too had a full house and was anxious to show his hand, it was obvious he didn't know what bad shape he was in.

What a moron.
I don't know the game of Omaha very well, but I know that I could at least read my cards correctly.
It would be really funny if indeed he was hustling everyone. But, considering his play, I don't think he was. I think he stated that he wanted to be a world class player, or one of the best players in the world or something. I laughed. Me and my sister (and she knows little about poker), were laughing at the guy.
