Bluffing works at micro-limits? |

I was very surprised to see people fold on the turn to me at the micro-limits.
One time, I had AK and the flop came three diamonds and it was checked to me, 2 players before me. Not having a diamond in my hand, I still bet it out, one caller. Turn came a blank, I bet with Ace high, and the guy folds. Probably not a bluff, I might have had the best hand.
And another time, I had A-Q, got nothing on the flop and I bet into one player on the flop, on the turn, and being stubborn, on the river, and he folded on the river. I guessed he had a busted draw, and I was right.
But actually picking up pots without the best hand (i COULD'VE had the best hand), is really surprising at .05/.10 limit hold'em.

i've found that at the micro table SNG's... a bluff early in the game means putting all your chips on the line. this works maybe 35-40% of the time (works as in getting others to fold). most of the time you're called though and it's a matter of your hand holding up or not.
i don't do this...
later in a SNG... you can bluff a bit more... especially if you've been pretty tight for the first 5 players or so. you still have to be very careful about where and when you choose to bluff... but once it gets down to 4 or so... you can steal a pot or two simply because you so close to the 3 $$ positions.

As counter-intuitive as it might sound, you probably have more scared money at lower limits that you do at higher limits.
Your reward at 2/4+ is winning money. At microlimits it isn't winning money, but rather just enjoying yourself. I know it sounds weird but winning money, might not be a priority to microlimit players.

I find players in .50/$1 games to be tighter than any other limit. Quoting Doyle Brunson "the loosest play will always be at the highest limits because many of these players cannot get enough action. They play to many hands and overplay the good hands they get" I have found this to true as well. I see 4 bets preflop much more often than in a $100/$200 game than in a .50/$1 In fact, if you are under the gun before the flop and raise to $1 about half the time you will drag the blinds in a .50/$1 game. Try that in a $100/$200 game.
