so when two people have a flush of the same suit on the same hand does high card in the flush win???

Correct.
To be clear, it's the highest card in your hand which is part of the flush.

This is the sort of question you hear at the table right before they guy takes your entire stack.

If 2 people have a flush the winner is the one with the highest card in the hole.

Unless the entire board is a flush and neither player has a hole card that would contribute to that flush that would make it any higher.
For example, if the board is all spades, AJ986 and the first guy has no spades at all and the other guy has a 3 of spades in his hand, then both players play the board and they split.
If the first guy has a 5 of spades in his hand and the other guy has a 7 of spades, then the second guy's flush of AJ987 of spades beats the first guy's AJ986 of spades. The 5 of spades doesn't play.
