Anyone know any links to UK cardrooms? In fact are they even legal here?!?
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

I graduated from Exeter uni last year! Maybe I know you......
Anyway, there ARE casinos around but they are few and far between and to my knowledge, NONE run Texas Holdem ring games ever. Some do run Holdem tournaments every now and then but the buy-ins are always £100+
I think there must be a casino in Bristol/Plymouth but whether they are any good I cannot tell you so I guess try Google and see wot comes up

There is a Stanley Casino in Plymouth, and UK rules say that you have to apply to become a member, unlike the US where you can just walk in...
They have a private card room for private games and I think still have small tourneys.
Up here in Edinburgh they are low limit buy-is at £10 with rebuys available.
If you contact any casinos in your area, they can often point you in the right direction as well as letting you know if they have regular games themselves.
I am unaware of specific poker rooms, as our UK gaming laws are still fairly strict and mainly for the benefit of the punter...
No alcohol on the gaming floor, no tipping the dealer, waiting time between applying for membership and being able to play, one 0 on the roulette, a limit to the hands you can split/double in BJ and the dealer's second card not being drawn until after all other hands are dealt through to a finish.
Good luck and enjoy your time in the UK

I intend to enjoy my time in the UK - I live here!
Thanks for the info. I will give the Plymouth and Torquay casinos a call and see what they do.
