I would like to take a moment to talk about a hand that gets little respect and by tight players very little play and that is Kx suited. All the preflop charts I've seen give very little credence to this poor, not often used, but highly valuable pocket cards.

Think about this for a moment.People will think nothing of going in with and even calling a raise with Ax suited but not the former. As for top pair the ONLY thing that can beat it is an Ace and we all know we do not see an ace on the board in every hand of Holdem far from it. Add to that the possibility of 2 pair kings up which, for the most part is usually a winner and the fact that being suited there is the possibility of the flush. Seems to me this hand has many things going for it at least as many if not more than suited connectors which many people seem to play consistantly, myself included. So come on all, let's give that Kx suited a break and the thanks it well deserves because I think in the long run it can win you some very nice pots.

Of course any raise and I would bail with it and if I don't see at least the draw on the flop it's bye bye, but that's probably pretty obvious to most people with the exception of the chasers out there who keep beating me on the river. Confused

I play KXs all the time if I'm in late position. If it's a loose table with few raises pre-flop I may even call w/ it in mid position. I play this hand basically the exact same as suited connectors or AXs. You hope to flop a draw, 2 pair or better. You don't put much into it if you catch top pair. It's worth a bet, but that hand won't withstand much pressure.

Easy to get away from and worth seeing a flop for cheap.

I think the other factor that makes Ax more attractive to most is that if Kx and Ax miss the board entirely, Ax still picks up the high card win. I like Kx short handed and will raise it up if 3/4 handed or less but with more, it depends greatly on my position.

Actually, I think that KXs becomes weaker shorthanded because you're almost never getting the pot odds to draw at a flush...and since you can't ever be sure of your kicker it's general a very weak hand and hard to play aggressively with.

Kx suited and Qx suited are very deceptive hands and given the right texture, worth playing.

Let's say @ 5- 10 game, u hold Q6 suited in the BB and a tight player opens, u get one caller in LP and u call for one more bet. Flop comes four flush and a pair of sixes. I like to come out and bet and see if the opener has AK / A Q or over pair. If u get called instead of raised, u can probably pound the pot until the river they probably knowing they have over cards. Even better if on the turn, a queen comes and pairs ur high card and hits their hand! They've got top pair top kicker. They'll never know what hit them. Of course, you'll get a twenty minute lecture on why you suck @ hold'em.

However, in a loose aggressive game, I will almost never play these hands becuase I hate putting in lots of bets pre-flop only to have fold or chase. I think suited connectors and mid pairs go way up in value in these types of games.

In most situations I'll fold an Ax and Kx suited unless the other card is at least a 10. I've paired up too many Ace with a hand like A4 only to be beat by a higher kicker.

The problem with this hand is most people stay in with a Ax, suited or not suited. So having a low kicker worries me.

Now, if I get in for cheap, I will look at the flop trying to get me flush. If it's like a A2s or A3s, than I've got both the flush and the straight going.
